This is a homestay. Not a hotel. So manage your expectation. The room is like any other homestay with decent spring bed and comfy pillow. I have a back pain when sleeping in certain matress, but the one here did not cause me any back pain. The room is also well maintained. Not the best furniture but clean and dry - not damp (if you know what I mean).
The water here is from ground water and sometimes a bit salty. During my 3 days, the water in first day was a bit salty. So the host give me collected rain water to use for shower. But in the second and third day the water is normal. That's because the saltiness of the water depends on the rain. When it rains, the water can be fresher.
Electricity is from generator. No power line from the main island. Normally the host will provide electricity in certain hours. But if you ask her, she will be more than happy to turn it on for you.
Air conditioning is installed but will be on when the electricity is on. Be very mindful that the cost of electricity here is super expensive because of the gasoline used for the generator. So only asked for electricity when you really need it.
This homestay is only for those who seek for silence and retreat as the opposite of the busy Bira beach. You will be disappointed if you wish to find some party vibes here. The homestay is located in the edge of the island a step away from the village. After 6pm there is no one on the street. You can enjoy the view and the sound of the beach from your balcony.
No wifi from the hotel but you can get a strong cell signal from Telkomsel, XL and Indosat. So you won't be totally disconnected from outside world. In fact I had my Zoom meeting here and it went well.
During daytime you can enjoy the beach almost only for yourself as the homestay only have 7 rooms. During my stay there were no more guests but me and my wife. So practically we felt like we owned the beach for ourselves.
The food is the best of them all. The host cooks alive fish. So it is very fresh and it cost you only USD 4 per person. Nothing beats the price of the fish here. You can request certain seafood dishes and how it shall be cooked.
In conclusion, stay here if you want to experience living like locals and be away from the busy city or even busy Bira beach. Experience private beach without breaking a bank as it cost me only USD 30 per day. You will also need to pay USD 25 for the private boat return trip from the mainland or take the public boat which is only available between 7am to 12pm and cost you USD 4 per person per trip.
I really enjoy my trip here despite all the limitation of ammenities. As I told you, this is a local homestay, not a star hotel. So manage your expectation in the...
Read moreYou have to take 15 minutes trip by small boat from Bira Beach to reach this bungalow. So basically we pay for the bungalow itself and extra money for the boat to drop us in and out of Liukang Loe Island and also to go to the snorkeling spot. Me personally didn't get the experience but my friends said that the underwater life in Liukang Loe's sea mesmerized them. Since there's no restaurant on this island we asked for Ibu Irma the owner of the Bungalow to cook for us. 50K for one portion and you'll get freshly grilled fish with a very delicious sambal. The nasi goreng for breakfast also good. The room is very comfortable and onr thing you should knoe that the electricity will be turn on at 6PM and turn off at 6 AM. So you better charge your phone before come to this place. And if the owner din't put the blanket in your room, ask her maybe she forgot to...
Read moreOnly a one-night stay, but it is all perfect. The room was comfortable with air conditioning, the meals (breakfast and dinner) were great and delicious and the location was perfectly in front of the sea. Irma is very nice, she keeps track of my locations while I'm on the way to her place from Makassar. She arranged our transportation, both car and boat. However, electricity is only available from 6 pm - 7 am, it can be very hot in the daytime. There are couple of small shops around the island where you can buy some snacks. Sunset can be seen in front of the homestay. You can also snorkel just in front of...
