Beautiful on the surface but a rip off on everything else. They stranded a huge liveaboard boat on the reef resulting in the reef being severely damaged. I wouldn't go back here again. Not worth the money.
We are a couple that wanted to go to Raja Ampat for a long time. We decided to start our journey and first stay in Waisai at Hamueco Dive Resort and spend our last week at Raja Ampat Dive Lodge. Raja Ampat Dive lodge did a lot of effort in how it looks. The garden and the buildings are beautiful. Our dive guide/ instructor Rasul was very good and friendly. He made our stay at Raja Ampat Dive Lodge.
We constantly had the feeling they where trying to rip us of or to do things as cheap as they can. We compared it with Alibaba, it all seems beautiful but under the surface it's all cheap. It felt like a very Chinese cultured hotel.
During our stay a Liveaboard boat from the same owners of the hotel stranded on one of the pristine coral reefs! It was stuck for days and the reef was heavily damaged. I truly wonder if the owners will do anything to make up for this awful incident.
Employees: The employees where nice. However this is hotel doesn't seem to employ any local people only people from Java. It doesn't support local community and lacks authenticity.
Transportation cost: If you stay at Raja Ampat Dive Lodge you have to take a boat from the ferry Waisai to the hotel. We have asked the hotel a few times what the price was for picking us up from the ferry. They gave many different prices all of them absurd high (towards 250 USD pp). We arranged transportation ourselves because the hotel asks an absurd high amount and we paid 800.000 (50 EUR) one way 2 persons. Other guests went to the village next to the hotel and they arranged a boat to bring them to the ferry. They paid 1.000.000 for 3 persons. The transportation fee is really a rip off and a very unwelcoming fee.
Food: For the first part of our holidays we stayed at Hamueco eco dive lodge, a small scale hotel with beach bungalows. Going from them to Raja Ampat Dive lodge was a poor decision looking at the food. As the food was amazing at Hamueco and so extremely poor at Raja Ampat Dive Lodge. It all seemed unfresh or just unfrozen. It wasn't authentic. Instead of providing good Indonesian food they try to provide western food of super low quality. Also for having lunch and dinner you have to pay 25 USD/ 50 USD in total, really a rip off. Luckily I brought some noodles from Waisai.
Airco and shower: They minimize the water to almost nothing and the airco was programmed to minimal cooling. Even when we asked for support on this they said they helped while they didn't...
Read moreI can't speak highly enough and describe how surreal & satisfying this experience was at the Raja Ampat Dive Lodge. ||The staff is extraordinarily accommodating. Its a long process to reach the Dive Lodge destination, but they will meet you at the airport and escort you from Sorong Airport to the lodge on Mansuar Island. They kindly carried all my luggage and provided me with all the boat transportation. The travel itinerary seems intimidating, but the Dive Lodge staff makes it easy and less complicated as they escort you and they deal with all the logistics. I commend Joseph and Tobias for making the whole orientation extremely thorough and welcoming.||My cabin at the lodge was pleasant, comfy and temperature controlled. One of the biggest highlights was the FOOD! All the meals are buffets filled with quality food. This was truly restaurant quality meals. Kudos to the chefs for their brilliant proficiency in the kitchen. ||The scuba diving was my best dive experience ever. I have dived in 5 other regions around the world, but this underwater scenery tops all the charts. Plus, I had an exceptional dive master and boat crew. Diego helped me enjoy nearly 20 hours of diving. He ensured that I got the best underwater experience. It was surreal when he instructed me on feeding a banana to a bat fish deep underwater. The boat crew of Nando and Nadus were extremely friendly and accommodating. They always did the heavy lifting of my equipment. This was SO MUCH appreciated because I struggle with chronic back injuries. Peres is a very talented underwater video cameraman. He will use his GoPro and capture amazing video clips of you diving. ||This was the best decision I ever made for a vacation! THANK YOU!!!!|-...
Read moreBeautiful DREAMY location on Mansur Island. You have a jetty teaming with fish, beautiful corals around it, mangroves, and a beach!! Looked at a lot of pictures and compared many resorts. I requested for an updated bathroom bungalow, but reservationists said to make request on arrival. Upon check in the lady stated not possible, not available, and only for VIP. The room we were given had problems with the hot water. It rained on our transport from Wasai and after one cold shower we wanted a hot shower before bed. They asked if waiting for the next day was ok. I politely said no and asked to change rooms. Yosef at front desk was helpful and quick to solve. Moved rooms and the 2nd room was exactly the updated bath I asked for. Seems to be available unlike the reluctant 1st interaction. On our first dive day the Dive master took some time to find the reef. 15-20 min found the reef, put our gear on and somehow lost sight of it and had to search again. Great dive, no complaints about Raja Ampat diving! He was kind, polite, and attentive. Besides the 2 small hiccups everything else was dreamy. We didn't do the spa services bc it was a little expensive to add on but beautiful setup and such a sweet lady there! Laundry on site too! Attentiveness of the wait staff, housekeeping, and other service staff on point. I have dietary restrictions and kitchen staff was amazing! Toni the manager is truly the best. You see him cleaning up the grounds, cutting dead limbs, playing the guitar for an anniversary couple. Does it all! He's always around, approachable and understands service and hospitality! Planned to stay 5 ended up staying 7! Wish I would've...
