Horison Ultima Ratu Serang — Hotel in Serang

I was given the room on the 5th floor. The bedroom was quite OK, furniture was quite old and the TV was a 32" TV, very small for a 20 sq meter plus room.

The bathroom, however, was pretty bad. The floor and wall inside the shower room were mouldy, something not acceptable for a self proclaimed 4-star hotel. The shower was only pumping out hot (not warm) water and the tap was broken.

Amenities were there, in very minimum variety. Shower gel and shampoo were put in the dispenser next to the shower, but no soap in any form at the sink. They expect their guests to come in and out to the shower room to take soap every the guests are washing their hands.

Breakfast costs me 121k IDR Nett, very cheap for a 4-star hotel, but don't expect a 4-star hotel breakfast quality. Just feed yourself so you can survive for the day.

Staff tried their best to be friendly. But at certain point they became awkward friendly. This shows the staff are inexperienced and that minimum training ever given to them. They tried to listen to the customer but don't know how to understand the customer point of view.

The hotel only have outdoor carpark, and the carpark was not even covered so you can actually boil water and egg inside your car during your stay.

The hotel was also VERY NOISY. Noise from the traffic outside woke me up few times. Noise from the hall and the room next door (!!) also can be clearly heard.

Overall, it was OK hotel, price was cheap because of promo I got from the booking engine. That's why I gave constructive complaint. But the product and services they provided are certainly not qualified to be called...

Unfortunately, the downside is the small place of worship (musholla) which requires more space and there is no hair dryer in the bathroom. Maybe the building was a bit old, so there were things malfunctioning here and there. Our room initially had smelled of cigarette smoke (we had especially asked for a non-smoking room), until they moved us to a new room. The shower was a pain, because no matter which way we turned the faucet to, it sprayed only hot water. In the end we use some of the water from the sink, which couldn't be completely turned off (again, no matter which way I turned the faucet to, up, down, left, right, the water kept flowing with various strength). That was the most inconvenient as we were travelling with a toddler who couldn't stay still and needed to be showered as quickly as possible. Also the air conditioner was VERY noisy; groaning and vibrating the whole time, like we were staying next to a sleeping dragon. It definitely needed maintenance asap! The pool was pretty good, though. I loved the room view to the pool. The staff were friendly and helpful. And the restaurant was nice too. Breakfast food wasn't too widely varied, but tasted decent. The building itself was located near the city centre, very accessible.
