d'primahotel Kualanamu Medan — Hotel in Sumatra

Location is great for me in that its only 7 mins by car to the airport. Medan downtown is about 30 minutes away through challenging traffic.The service staff were excellent all round. Amenities, rooms and public areas were clean. The swimming pool water did look a bit cloudy although the bottom of the pool is visible from overhead. I did not swim though.Complimentary tea bags should include English breakfast or black tea. Small niggle but it takes on greater significance if you stay in the area long enough to miss strong tea because almost all restaurants serves very weak tea.Breakfast offering especially the local cuisines could be better - at least for me. The tea was really weak ( read above); there was only one choice of plain white sandwich loaf. No butter, although vegetable oil-based margarine was offerred. The danish pastry were stiff and cloy but I guess I need to manage my expectations as this cuisine is not indigeneous. But if a simple improvement could be done, I believe this hotel will draw more satisfaction from (foreign)...

I have no issues with the hotel conditions. The only thing that bothered me was the receptionist. I arrived on 24th Aug 2025 around 2.30 a.m and we were tired after almost 14hrs drive. we were welcome by a male staff with a gloomy face and high & unpleasant tone. May be we came not on the right time n disturbed his good slept. Around 10a.m I approached the receptionist but of different person. Again when I asked about my transportation from hotel to airport for the next day, the staff also responded with unpleasant tone and tend unwillingly to help. So I gave up and asked my friend to ask about the matter in the afternoon. My friend also experianced same treatment as I did from the same staff. May be we are Asian so the staffs looked downward on us as we did not looked like foreigners and wealthy. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone I know. I preferred to stay at Wing Hotel which is just across the road where there we can find shops and...

We had a short overnight stay at D'Primahotel Kualanamu before an early flight to Denpasar.

I have to say I was super impressed with this hotel. Incredibly good value for money. The room was basic but clean, functional and with pretty much everything you might need for a short stay. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable.

Because we arrived in the evening and left at 6am, we didn’t get to use the pool or the gym. Nor did we have time for breakfast. The pool looked excellent, and very clean. The gym looked basic, but enough for a quick workout. At this price, though, both were an unexpected bonus.

One thing - the hotel offers a two hourly shuttle bus to and from the airport. The 6am bus suited us perfectly. We reserved seats when we arrived, so it was a bit frustrating to have to wait until 6:15am. Reception waited until we checked out before they contacted the driver.
