The rooms are pretty basic but have all you need for a surf trip. Food was reasonably good however a bit more variety would be an improvement.(there are a couple of options within 2 minute walk if you want some variety-Lani's for Burgers, pizza or Tacos and next door at Damai bungalows will also feed you for a very reasonable price). You can watch the surf from the dining area and our kids spent plenty of time on the pool table.||Location in front of the main surf break (Ujung Bocur) was second to none. Walk straight out to the break in the morning. Watch the last waves of the day from the bench seats or hammock while the sun is setting.||Wind's were a bit fickle during our stay(April) but when the wind co-operated the main break was fantastic. Apparently a from May through to September winds are good nearly every day. Various other breaks available within 20 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. Mandiri beach breaks(about 15 minute drive) are very consistent every morning and certainly pack a punch and can be exceptional. Krui has a number of breaks as well however, the swell needs to be up for these to break, Way Jambu is only 10minutes away for those who like shallow reef breaks and Jennys and Jimmys are about a 1 1/2 hour drive over a road that has been improved recently and looks like they are working on more sections (which at the moment were terrible) and should shorten the trip a bit more once completed.||There are always locals available to drive you anywhere you want to go or you can hire a bike. Our surf guide Aput was fantastic. Very knowledgeable on the breaks and nothing was a hassle for him. Interent was ok in the main dining area but was best at the Mambo bar(we watched the WSL Margaret River comp whilst there). Service was pretty basic but certainly adequate for a group of blokes on a surf trip. Washing service was terrific and cheap as was the on site ding repair from Agus. Most of our beds were pretty good(with the exception of 1 in our group of 13) Rooms were generally clean although ants were a bit of a problem for a few.||Both the swimming pool and the outdoor were very refreshing...
Read moreI am not a surfer but I enjoyed Ombak Indah for all of these reasons. Great views - clean and spacious rooms. Great Food 3 meals a day a fusion of Aussie and Indo. Lots of fish and healthy chicken and tasty vegies. Great meals can also be purchased if you miss meal time. I also bought some amazing fresh tuna from the markets that the kitchen cooked up for me We had some great day trips that were organised to see local crafts, waterfalls and local agriculture. Annie a part owner also took us to some great local walks throughout the area and local villages and was very knowledgable about local cropping and culture in the area. We also found a great reef area at the end of the street for swimming and beach walking. The bar and pool rooms were a great place to relax . The people in this region are so friendly we really enjoyed our stay. Don't leave this place just...
Read moreThis was my first time travelling to South Sumatra, and I did it solo as a surf trip, over the Christmas holidays. I honestly would highly recommend this resort to absolutely anyone (solo travellers, families, couples, etc.) I honestly, felt more at home with the Ombak Indah owner and workers, than I do here in Australia. The facilities are amazing, the beer is ice cold, the unbelievable (3 meals a day included) were absolutely breath taking, especially looking out over the cleanest left hander on your doorstep (Ujung Bocur). I hope to visit this resort, every single year that I can and potentially even move to the resort for a year! I honestly could not doubt absolutely one thing wrong with this place! Keep it up Any, and the Ombak...
