The check in staff was clueless about my booking via online because she didn't have access to the hotel system. She called the manager on duty who apparently was not in charge of online booking either. The person in charge was on leave and she wasn't able to be contacted. After a while they decided to let me check in my room.||Standard Room was bare and not clean. I could see hairs on the floor. No toiletries provided, even the basic ones like soap bar. No AC, TV or any amenities.||Service level was typical NTT: bad. Staff prefered watching TV in lobby to answering queries from guests. Read moreI think this is largely a business hotel. I was backpacking. I stayed in the basic room and it was pretty basic, not much character but clean and cool. Free wifi. Pretty decent Indonesian buffet breakfast. There's a lovely kiosk cafe in the courtyard that's a nice place for a tea or a beer. And it's right on the main strip in town. I didn't try the restaurant but if you come out the gate and turn left there's two great restaurants, RM Larisa, and a big padang place.||||The staff are really friendly and helpful, although speaking some Indonesian helps!||||If you're after a good guide around the traditional villages, ask for Evan. Edwin in Lavalon can get you in touch....

The new rooms are more than adequate, staff are very friendly and helpful although you may have 'work at it' but very much worth the effort, especially Pak Bruno at reception who can help with transport, at very reasonable rates. There's a bank and shop nearby and several good restaurants within a few steps. Breakfast is Indonesian style buffet and plentiful. By far the best feature is the 'courtyard cafe' a nice place to have a coffee or beer and 'run by' an extremely helpful young woman from Boti. It is good it is not Aston/Swiss Bel, etc, it is locally owned and a good Indonesian hotel....
