We just spent the most magical few days as a family||at Alam Karang. We literally only left today, and we are all planning how we can get back as soon as possible!!||The accommodation is so elegant and peaceful, words simply can not express how stunning a spot it is- you have the beach at your doorstep and fall asleep to the lulling of the waves.. it is absolute paradise!||As we havenāt traveled since covid, and being wet seasons we did have concerns as to how things would be. I had no reason to worry- the accommodation is meticulously clean and well maintained. We did a snorkel tour and had boat transfers and were offered life jackets- not because of any risk but they would go out of their way if you have any worry about anything at all!||I did not realise there was no hot water, however quickly realised even on wet season it is not an issue. The shower was refreshing and the bathrooms beautiful. The air conditioner was great, and we were able to borrow the kayaks and snorkels and masks. ||We explored coral reefs, saw so many tropical fish and biked around the island. Due to our mistake one day, we got lost cycling but Jun and his team came and ārescuedā us by boat, transporting our bikes back for us all! ||Jun has exceptional communication skills, and his gentle and caring nature made us feel like we had a responsible and caring uncle caring for us. ||I have not even mentioned the food yet!!! Oh my goodness!!! I am not a big foodie (my husband is) but I am now- the food was INCREDIBLE!!!! Honestly, I donāt know where to start- fresh baked bread with breakfast, every single item we ate on the menu, was consistently AMAZING!!! I donāt usually eat a lot, and my children can be quite picky, but we just couldnāt leave any thing on a single plate- it was all too delicious and such a treat we wanted to eat every last bite!!||As we were eating, our room would be prepared- twice a day, feeling like your mum was lovingly preparing you for the day or night x||We have only ever been to one high end resort and that was the Oberoi in Lombok for a very special occasion. My children said Alam Karang was better than the Oberoi- my daughter said yes the Oberoi was a stunning place, but it was the people at Alam Karang that made it the best place we have ever stayed. We all agree, Alam Karang is the cleanest, most beautiful, safe, special place we have ever stayed. It was not the incredible natural beauty that made it so amazing (while that is true)-||It was Jun and his incredible team!!! Leaving today, it felt like we were leaving family! The whole team farewelled us off, I must send my pride and respect wholeheartedly for not just Jun and the boys, but the beautiful, talented, incredible girls who are the most magical cooks with the warmest smiles- thank you, thank you- we respect your skill and appreciate your talent and care and it was an absolute treat and delight for us to spend these last days with the Alam Karang āfamilyā in heaven on Gili||Gede xx ||Ps where I am has limited internet so not letting me upload many pictures...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had 3 nights here. Marie and Bernard were the most fabulous hosts. They made us feel so very welcome. Firstly the bungalows are fantastic. Lovely comfortable bed with mosquito nets. An open air bathroom but I never saw one creature inside. Toiletries are provided and our place was cleaned once in the morning and in the evening the boys went in to tidy up, empty bins and straightened the bed. There is a lovely sitting area on the terrace with comfortable sofa and table. All bungalows face the sea, we didn't book a seaview room but could still see it. All very eco friendly, your water bottles are refilled for free as many times as you wish. Marie has her own project growing coral just a few meters from the shoreline which she was very happy come snorkelling to show us. I was very impressed. Snorkelling is very good from the beach. Breakfast was great with your own loaf of fresh bread served warm and a choice of eggs, pancakes, home made jam to die for etc, etc. As the sun starts to set the communal lounge/restaurant becomes the focal point. It's almost like you have been invited to Marie and Bernard's own home to a dinner party. Some people were not even staying at the resort but would come every night for chat, cocktails, great chilled out dinner music and dining. They have some fantastic wines and champagne and cocktails as well as the Bintang and amazing juices. The food was amazing, all homemade, we absolutely loved it here. Marie arranged for our boat on departure day and her and her husband came out to wave us off personally. Truly amazing stay. They do so well with their beach clean ups, 3 times a day. It is remote so ensure that you bring everything you will need, personal hygiene products etc. I would definitely recommend this place for a wonderful relaxing time with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is definitely one of the best highlights of our trip to Indonesia. We found this place while we were running away from the most famous Gili T (disaster experience), and luckily this happened!
This place is pure magic. The staff is really awesome, kind and extremely helpful. Despite all the other hotels we visited in Indonesia, this one was extremely clean, with an attention to the details that reminds us a 5 stars hotel. You can have delicious lunches and dinners at their place, with a fair variety of food. You can snorkelling in front of the hotel seeing blue corals and different kind of fish (masks and rock shoes are freely available at the property). Highly recommended the snorkelling in the close islands, that despite the touristic attraction of Gili T with dead corals, boat gasoline in the air and huge masses of people, will bring you in completely empty, little and white sanded islands having the opportunity to see variety of fish, sea stars, sea horses and corals (the picture refers to this).
Perfect place if you want to retreat yourself, take time to relax and stay away from the chaos.
We definitely want to go back to Alam Karang in the future.
The staff will definitely be part of us forever: mimpi manis.
Cons: There is really nothing that was not perfect in our stay. Maybe just a few suggestions: Bring with you your own bottle as they have pure water to refill them and there is no chance to buy one there. We found quite difficult to sleep as there is too much light in the rooms and some noise during the night. If you feel the same problem, bring a...
