I stayed there during some hard times for the city with a number of car bombs going off in distant areas during my stay. The hotel is staffed by amazing people who just want to do a great job in a city in conflict. They came from all walks of life having lost there original places of working to shell damage etc. The rooms were remarkably clean. The restaurant cooked great local dishes.. normal rules apply for conflict zones - do not drink the tap water or eat anything that has not been cooked and don't ask for ice in your drinks(tap water). there is plenty of bottled water but make sure it's you that opens it - great local scam in recycling water bottles with tap water. In no circumstances go anywhere without a local guide/fixer/interpreter but only supplied by whoever you are working for or the hotel.
