Fitzpatricks Dungeon Bar & Grill — Hotel in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown

Just the place for a quick supper, over a pint - or more - of Guinness, if staying at the Fitzpatrick Castle. Do remember to let the bartender or the servers at the bar know where one is seated, if one chooses to step into the cosy room adjoining said bar; and service is assured.

They make a good Steak and Kidney Pie accompanied with Gravy, and that is a personal favourite. Their 6 oz. Steak is an alternative accompanied by Skinny Fries (oh-so-crisp) and Garlic Butter on the side.

Old-fashioned jelly with ice-cream rounds things off really nicely, and they do it well.

Nice bar and furnishings, the young barman was courteous and efficient, good drop of guiness, the food however that comes from the Mapas restaurant adjacent was very mediocre..we didnt want a large meal and as the pizza bar had closed early for no apparent reason we had soup (leek and potato) with Guinness bread and a side of chips, the soup had no depth of flavour and little to comend it and the chips were earthy and undercooked, chef cant have tasted them..the standout was the bread which was moist, dense...

We sat by the fireplace to get warm. The place was nearly empty. The bartender came to our table and took our drink order and then took the menu out of our hands and placed it on the table against the wall. He didn’t ask if we wanted food. Then, one of the drinks he made was not what was ordered. Eventually when he walks by seeing me with a menu open towards him and watching he asked if we wanted to order. Luckily the meal was really good, but he took the menu away so... hopefully we don’t...
