What a wonderful setting Martinstown House was for our wedding last week! A stunning yellow Georgian House near the Curragh in County Kildare reveals itself as you drive down the driveway through its secluded glades, with a vast sweeping lawn and a beautiful covered outdoor bar ready to refresh your thirsty guests!||||The owner Edward and his staff including his wedding coordinator Jennifer and the chef, his son Andrew, and all the servers and bar staff, couldn't have been more helpful and keen to make our wedding a memorable day.||||I would highly recommend the accommodation, the Georgian house was where we put up close family and the bridal party, and there was plenty of other lovely accommodation including the converted stables and the deluxe yurts.||||The food was delicious and plentiful, we particularly enjoyed our "tasting evening" a couple of months before the wedding, there was plenty of lovely dishes to choose from.||||The outdoor barn setting was ideal for the wedding ceremony - it provided a rather magical scene as the sun shone through the gap between the edge of the barn and the trees onto ourselves on the raised platform where we were sitting throughout the service. With the sound of the robins tweeting in the background, and our live ceremony music playing intermittently, the entire setting matched our Celtic Spiritualist theme perfectly.||||The marquee was beautifully decorated for the evening meal, and had a bar with all the necessities, including a sensational pint of draught Guinness! It also accommodated our live band later on very well, with a dancefloor near the front which filled up rapidly after our first dance! ||||The venue offers such a rich variety of picturesque little spots to spend the day, from the swing under the bough of the giant old oak tree to the chairs around the roaring firepit under the stars later on. Martinstown House has a really intimate feel to it, which for us set it apart from the other venues we viewed.||||We had just under 100 guests which suited this venue very well, although they can cater for fewer as well as larger groups. We felt that for the experience we got, it was worth every penny, and when comparing it cost-wise to other venues, Martinstown House is excellent value for money.||||Needless to say, if we could do it all over again we would, but let's hope it doesn't come to that!||||Thanks once again to everyone at Martinstown House for making our special day such a wonderful...
Read moreWe chose Martinstown as our Wedding venue and couldn't have been happier! The House felt quite fancy but homely at the same time. We had all pricing options laid out quite clearly so there were no surprises. They offered use of the House the day before and we are so happy we did, it gave us time to organise, set up and test everything the day before the Wedding, which allowed a stress free day, it would have been a nightmare to not have had that extra day to set up everything. ||The staff were very kind and understanding and they were always around whenever we needed them. We are a bit shy and they had no problem with making announcements or gathering people around. I forgot my vows and legal documents shortly before I had to head to the altar and Jennifer offered to pop up to our room and get them for me, the staff were an absolute life-saver and always had good suggestions whenever we were unsure of something and had a list of florists and photographers who already know the venue, we could choose who we wanted but it was nice to know that their contacts had already seen the venue and knew what would work. They also got us in contact with a babysitter for the small children which was a load off for my Sister.||The venue itself is gorgeous and needed very little in the way of decoration on our part, it was a nice country garden party feel which was exactly what we were going for. Beautiful scenery and Housemartins swooping across the lawn, plenty of room for kids to run around and play and not be stuck sitting around with the adults. ||Must also not forget to mention, everyone loved the food, it was fantastic and I highly recommend the Salmon, I am not all that big on it and I loved it, definitely put it on the list for tasting! Martinstown was also very accommodating in providing vegetarian meals on the side as we had maybe 5 vegetarians, they said we didn't have to use up one of our menu slots on a vegetarian dish if there was only a handful and they can just prep 5 vegetarian meals.||To top it off, some relatives from abraod were having trouble getting a taxi the morning after and needed to catch a train so Edward used his car to drive them there, making two trips which we are highly grateful for. Our only regret is not being able to leave that much in the way of a tip as the staff truly were outstanding from start to finish and made everything go off without a hitch, it was an absolutely...
Read moreWe got married at Martinstown House in June 2024, and it really was just the perfect weekend. From the offset, when we were picking a venue, we just had such a good feeling about the place - obviously it's a beautiful house and the grounds are stunning, but we immediately were drawn to the relaxed and rustic vibes of the venue and loved that it was family run, it just felt very different and special. Blathnaid and Edward were exceptional when it came to communicating with us, answering all our questions. They were so personable which really put us at ease, especially when we were planning the wedding from abroad.
And then the weekend of - we couldn't have been luckier with the weather, which definitely helped! We stayed in the house the night before with our immediate families and had a beautiful meal in the house. It was a lovely way to have that time together before the big day. The rooms in the house were fabulous, and Edward and his team were so attentive and friendly.
The day itself ran perfectly - Blathnaid and Edward are running the show, and you can just relax and go with the flow. The morning getting ready was so enjoyable, as you knew they had everything under control. I didn't expect to be so calm, but that is a testament to them! The venue is so well thought-out and it just made the day flow so well - the guests had welcome drinks on the lawn while we had the quiet First Look moments just between ourselves in the Secret Garden, we then moved to the ceremony in the stunning Woodlands area, followed by a sunny drinks reception on the lawn, all before heading to the marquee for dinner and dancing. The food throughout the day was absolutely delicious, from the breakfast in the morning, to the gorgeous canapes in the afternoon, the spectacular Rustic Feast buffet and desserts, and of course the sausage sambos for soakage later on - everything was of amazing quality and so tasty, and there was plenty of it! Our guests were extremely complimentary.
We are honestly so thrilled that we chose to have our wedding at Martinstown House - Edward, Blathnaid, Andrew, Jessica and the team were so accommodating and wonderful - they work so hard to make your life easier and make sure everyone is looked after and having...
