Had a meal with my wife and kids there today. My wife is gluten and dairy free and also vegetarian so to be honest I generally see how she gets on as a barometer of the standards in a restaurant. It has been many years since I ate there and unfortunately today was so poor you could never return. There were various issues from the start. Neither me or my wife got our first choice but that happens. She actually ordered and they went off to prepare it only to return a while later to say it was not now available. Anyway the main gripe was with how they handled themselves after. One of the staff came over and suggested that he would get a vegetarian curry which would be gluten and dairy free!! My wife agreed but what followed would not have happened on an episode of Fawlty Towers. There were little bits of chicken in the curry. It has to be assumed that they fished out the bigger bits of chicken from a chicken curry!! Whether it was gluten or dairy free was certainly now in question too but for sure it was not vegetarian. It was pointed out to the staff and taken away. No alternative just awkward embarrassment. Come settling up time this was explained to the manager and he said to knock it off the bill (we would not have been paying for my wife's meal which she did eat anyway). The apology was about as disingenuous and disinterested as you could get. Absolutely no commitment to investigate how this could possibly come to pass. Can you imagine what other carnage could be going on in that kitchen day to day? Anyway maybe they just had a really bad day in the Horse and Hound today but as far as we are concerned a door never to be...
Read moreVery nice place to dine in staff are very friendly and the food is excellent and very quick to be served We have dined here 6/7 times since last Christmas and the food and service are very good. But sorry to say that the last time we came here for lunch the food was very bad as was the service we ordered 4 meals and 4 drinks everything was OK at the start but things went downhill from when we were served the meal we received the first 2 meals and halfway through then we were given the vegetables but only 1 serving between the two of us.
At this point we are still waiting for the 2 meals to arrive and when we got them the chip's were very hard and unbeatable .
This is the first time I have had a bad meal from here and it's after putting me of dining here in the future. the restaurant was not busy at the time only about 12 people eating we were here some time earlier in the year and it was packed up with people eating and we were keeped no longer than 10 minutes to get service wish I found very quick Hopefully we might call back when passing on the way back from Cork city and hope that the food has improved Back again and no improvement in the food or service will not be...
Read moreWe stayed one night room in 203. The person on duty was busy when we returned keys, we did not get a chance to bring their attention about the room. We were on a tight time schedule, the one member of staff, had to deal with reception, the breakfast room and a group that arrived seeking sustenance. Issues: Pins from head board loose. Broken piece of furniture in room. No shade on wall light. No lock bathroom door, cracked sink and cracked and dirty tiles. A door stop next to toilet, a trip/injury hazard. Light over bathroom mirror not working. Our meal the previous night was accompanied with a salad which was decaying . Noted same to bar man and met with indifference. Breakfast we ordered one vegetarian, it can only be described as shocking. The other order; bacon which accompanied the pancakes was totally inedible. The stay and food were of exceptional poor quality. I emailed the hotel all of the above with accompanying photos of the room, they did not respond. Would not stay again and certainly would...
