This stay was booked months ahead of time. We were driving a rental car on a loop route all the way around the island of Ireland. We drove from Doolin on Monday, May 22, 2023 and were delayed first by the Doolin Ferry being late, then by the Shannon Ferry to arrive much later than we expected, arriving about 8 PM instead of 6 PM. The owner of Keanes, John greeted us at our arrival. He said we were late, I explained why. I asked if we could get some snacks since we had not eaten for about 6 hours. Even though the kitchen was closed, he offered to make us some deep fried Haloumi, a Beet Salad and French Fries. He cooked it himself for us and waited on us until past 9:30 PM with a couple of glasses of wine as well. I know he did not have to do that, so it was very kind. This is a wonderful nicely appointed B&B, with a full bar and restaurant. The view is spectacular with a sheep meadow just beyond the premises, a cattle pasture beyond that and the water of the ocean bay past that. Our room, also with this view was great. Breakfast in the morning was unsurpassed quality and huge variety. We loved the smoked salmon. John was also there early in the morning serving us anything we wanted on the breakfast menu. We loved watching the little lambs in the meadow romping and playing. This place is very highly recommended by us. Thank you John for...
Read moreWell today was our first and last time calling for dinner to Keane's. It's with disgustand upset I write this review. We were showed to our table by the owner chef. There was a nice quiet girl waitress who was working away at her job, but the way the chef was shouting at her in the kitchen was nothing but disgusting, place was quite and she kept working away sorting out tables and cleaning, you could see dread in her eyes every time she entered the kitchen. I honestly have never heard anything like it. Food was good couldn't fault it. Went to bar to pay but owner just ignored us and continued to scroll through his phone I had to ask could we pay and he appeared took money didn't say thank you or anything . Then I said that I thought it was not nice that they shouted at an employee like they were doing. And the smart reply I got was Do you run your own business. Well I would never treat any employee the way they did . So it was no wonder that at 2.30 on a Sunday in the month of June was so quiet . These are the buisnesses that still avail of lower VAT but think it's ok to treat...
Read moreWe were passing through for one night and the place looked to be positioned in a great spot with views over the bay. Outside the car park and deck areas were tired and needed a tidy up which was a shame as the whole place could look more inviting. We were personally met and checked in quickly by the owner and our room was clean if basic. The wi-fi was patchy for TV reception but this we considered a minor issue. The king bed was very comfortable and the room quiet so we slept well.||||Supper was very pedestrian and plainly the kitchen offering has suffered. The burger was...well a burger served in a bun which was OK but the fries were sad and limpish. ||||We felt the owner was perhaps tired of his business, he was hospitable and chatty but watching TV in the bar that was very audible in the restaurant ruined any ambiance.||||We left feeling underwhelmed by our nights stay which one has to state offered fair...
