I stayed for one night in August while walking the Beara way. I had booked a tent pitch in advance the Dutch owner lady (I think Jamie) was very welcoming and helpful with any of my questions including some general ones about my walking route and plans. I got a tour of the site and the facilities, and was given some location options to pitch. In the end I chose a cosy and quiet corner. The facilities were clean and well run. Jamie explained how the washing machine and dryer worked. I was able to get some things washed and dried during my stay which was great. There is a food truck on site but only servers from Thurs - Sunday (may be wrong there with the days..). I could also charge up my power pack in the communal kitchen area. There is nothing otherwise nearby in terms of bars etc but that was fine for me. I had a nice stay there and slept well, it's a quiet and well run site, that seems to cater well for both camper Vans and tents. Would certainly recommend it...

We booked and paid for 3 nights with our camper on this remote, quiet camping with view on the Hungry Hill, excellent base for doing the ring of Beara and the ring of Kerry. Unfortunately on the second day my wife developped a pneumonia. Owen and Laura helped us to depart for attending the Medical Assessment Unit of the Bantry General Hospital (at 40 km). They paid us spontaneously 2 nights back. So the only bad comment below - the circumstances were explained to me - has no sense. We had to be repatriated to Belgium for medical reasons by plane, but hope to come back here one day again.

There was 14 in our group in 14 tents and everyone had nothing but praise for this place .The owners that run this place could not be more helpful, the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean, there is an area in the middle of the site with a pit for a log fire with a tripod and rack for barbecue. If you want this you ask for it to be lit in time. They have a variety of accommodation available at very reasonable rates. I will be recommending this place to all my friends.

Having stayed on well over thirty touring sites in our caravan since we retired there have only been two that we have been glad to have put in our rear view mirror this site was one of them. On the face of it should have been an enjoyable stay nice open grass site, 10amp ehu, good wi-fi and a warm if disingenuous welcome from the new dutch owners We were charged 30 euro per night for a pitch in early June for a caravan and 2 adults making Hungry Hill the most expensive site we have stayed on in sixteen years caravaning throughout Europe, far exceeding the 20 and 23 euro we had previously paid in Ireland So what do you get for your money at Hungry Hill the pictures lead you to believe there is a nice view the reality is there is no view at all, A few formal pitches mostly used for permanently sited dilapidated caravans and a scattering of random hardstandings with tents motorhomes and caravans all mixed together, the asthetics further diminished by the addition of a static caravan and associated shipping containers used by the owners and a couple of access roads going nowhere inparticular, There is a basic tiolet block with a few tiolets and a shower a washup area plus a kitchen for campers, The main feature of this campsite is a comunal firepit, when downwind you will find yourself having to close all doors and windows in an effort to keep out the choking smoke We were allotted a hardstanding parallel to and adjoining an access road (no choice was offered) between the toilet block and the chemical waste disposal with every person and vehicle passing within 2 feet of our caravan but well placed to listen to the owners guard dog barking at every new arrival If like us you book ahead you will be required to pay the full amount weeks before you arrive and a hefty deposit weeks before that, We paid 800 euro for a 4 week stay and it was made abundantly clear by the owners that already having had our money customer care was not on their agenda, having our electric disconnected for grass cutting and not reconnected on 2 occasions whilst we were out causing our fridge to defrost did not feel like an oversite. We were in all probability their best customer during our 4 week stay and yet we were treated with contempt. We won't...

We just returned from an incredible 10-day trip at Hungry Hill, and we can’t recommend it enough, regardless of whether you’re with family or seeking a peaceful retreat. The atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming that everyone feels at home. Our children just loved being here. ||The facilities were a huge highlight. After a long day of adventure, there’s nothing better than a hot shower, and the showers here were consistently spotless. The restrooms and washing-up areas were also cleaned to an incredibly high standard every single day, which made our stay so much more comfortable.||A special mention must go to the charming stone cottage on site. While we were in our tent, we got a peek at the cottage and it looked absolutely perfect—a cozy, rustic retreat that would be ideal for anyone looking for a bit more comfort and privacy. It's great to know there's another option for a future trip!||The location is a massive selling point. Hungry Hill Campsite is perfectly situated for exploring the best of the surrounding area. We spent our days taking scenic drives and discovering some of the best scenery in the country, with jaw-dropping views around every corner. We also took advantage of the excellent access roads to go on some fantastic hikes and to find brilliant spots for kayaking. The local waterways offer some of the most serene and beautiful paddles we’ve ever experienced.|Being able to get to so many different types of activities so easily made our trip feel packed with adventure, without a lot of hassle. It’s truly a perfect base camp for any kind of explorer.||We loved being able to grab some delicious Dutch French fries available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. It was a perfect treat after a day of hiking! And the lovely Claire’s coffee bar open on Saturdays and Sundays was a lifesaver, providing a great start to our weekend mornings.||Thanks Daniel and Jamie. Your genuine warmth and helpfulness made our stay so much more enjoyable. We’re already planning...
