Our travel group, normally accustomed to hotels, stayed at the Beit She'an Hostel for a night in April 2018, after a wonderful evening at the archaeological park nearby. My colleague and I stayed in a room outfitted for five persons (including two fold-down beds) and thus had a bit of room. There was a tv, mini-fridge and hotpot in the room, which had a separate area for toilet and shower. Don't come for the internet service; it went off and on. Thankfully there were elevators to get us almost up to our floor (2nd); but for some reason once you get off on the floor there are additional perhaps 10 steps to get to the level of the rooms. A group of Israeli teenybopper kids kept screaming until about 11 pm; their minders either didn't care enough or couldn't quiet them down. Since it's Israel, there's a synagogue on the premises. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Physically, the hostel is large and looks like it's kept in good shape. I'd give the hostel 3.5 of 5 stars and would certainly recommend it for those who understand it's not the...
Read moreThe hostel building and its inner patio are impressing and nice looking. The elevators are helpful for access to rooms except a few rooms (301-308 and 401-408). The rooms are basic. The dining room is reminding Kibutz dining room with long tables but with sufficient food for breakfast. The room window required an additional cleaning. You need to be careful in bed since an upper bed is above your head even when it is folded. There is a kettle with coffee and tea in the room.||WiFi was not working in the room.||It is a base to visit the amazing site of the ancient city of Beit Shean which only a few similar sites are found all over the world. In November it was good to visit since it was not hot and with no humidity. During summer time (July-August) expect hot and humidity.||It is close to Jordan river but with no access to the Jordan as a border zone with Jordan state...
Read moreWe are usually fans of the IYHA hostels. This one - not so much: the variety at breakfast was not as large as in the other branches (and we've been to 6 others, so I think we have basis for comparison), and they did not fill empty Trey's at the buffet unless they we're asked. The common areas were disappointing - no picnic tables or lawn. Cleaning was lacking as well: we found a mobile phone from the previous guests in our room under the bed (which has wheels, so no excuse not to move it...), and a cake in the room's wardrobe. Also, after 2 nights we asked that the trash cans be emptied, which they weren't. There is a nice pool at this hostel, and the room (family room for 4) is spacious with a...
