Gasthof Albergo Dolomiten was the perfect stopover from Munich Airport to Northern Italy, according to our map. As we got into Sud Tirol, the scenery was spectacular and the small hotel looked very inviting. We were surrounded by natural beauty of mountains, river and spring flowering trees, including apple orchards. ||The hotel itself was sparkly clean, very comfortable and the bedroom and bathroom were immaculate. No dusty corners or artificial flowers! Although we were in a room facing the road, it was very quiet and we didn't hear any cars. The view from there was worth the risk. Throughout the small hotel, there are wood accents from natural trees and the whole hotel seems to have been updated recently to modern European style.||The restaurant is open for dinner and although there is a menu, it is flexible and the food very good with large portions. Coffee and other drinks are available all the time along with delicious ice-cream. Breakfast was excellent with house-made jams, delicious breads, meats and cheeses and eggs cooked to your liking.||We were welcomed by the young lady at the desk who carried our heavy suitcases to the second floor as there is no lift/elevator. The more we talked with the owner, the more friendly she became but it was obvious that she was the driving force behind this excellent Gasthof. ||This was the perfect place to get a great night's sleep after a long flight but we would have liked to have stayed much longer to explore the wonderful area of Sud Tirol, Italy. It was just too inviting to explore the winding roads up over the mountains as behind each grouping of houses you see as you drive along, is a wonderful village, complete with schools, churches, etc. Next time, we will follow the wine route, explore more of the tiny villages up the mountains and just enjoy the peace and quiet...
Read moreI rarely review anything, but I have to do it for this place. First of all, Manuel and Vilma are amazing hosts. They have accommodated my late check-ins each time (after midnight) and are really kind and polite, I have stayed a few times here and they even sent me off once with some homemade chocolate cake. I have stayed in hotels all around the planet, on 4 continents, 5-star places and huts and everything in between, anyone who complains about breakfast here doesn't know how to appreciate homemade food. Fresh bread, locally sourced meat and cheese boards, fresh salad, homemade jams and pies, they make eggs for you the way you want it right there, and in the evening you can get beer straight from the tap in their really nice garden. Greetings from Harry, I...
Read moreWe were introduced to this superb little inexpensive hotel by our daughter who lives in Italy. It is to be found on the main SS12 midway between Trento and Bolzano in the stunningly beautiful Trentino/Alto region of Italy. We were greeted very warmly by the lady owner. The rooms are super smart and very clean with wonderful views of the mountains and surrounding vineyards. There was a really good choice at breakfast and an evening meal is available from a set menu. The food was delicious, consisting of freshly prepared dishes typical of the region. Our stay was all too short and I am looking forward to the time when we can return. I cannot recommend this...
