Castello di Tassara was the backdrop of our four-day intimate wedding celebration with a small group of our closest friends and family. Most of our guests stayed with us in the Castello for the three nights, and our wonderful host, Caterina, was kind enough to help us arrange accommodation for the few extra guests in the village.||||Hosting our wedding celebration here was the best decision we could possibly have made. My wife and I arranged the event from where we live in the Caribbean with Caterina over email and she was incredibly helpful and attentive to us. We took the approach of putting our trust in her and the events coordinator that she suggested to make the detailed arrangements and gave them a general direction of what we wanted for the four days, instead of subjecting ourselves to the trauma of micromanaging a life event that should be full of joy and above love, and not about the perfect shade of tablecloth. This approach paid off completely and what we experienced at the Castello was just beyond words. We were consistently and constantly impressed by what Caterina and her team delivered.||||We feasted each day on the most gorgeous authentic Italian food and wine. The area around the Castello is picturesque and off the beaten track. We hope the throngs our tourists that bombard Venice and Florence don’t catch wind of this beautiful valley. The Castello is incredibly comfortable and has boundless character. A place of this nature could easily be described as “rustic”, but we found it to be luxurious.||||The few days we spent with our friends and family at this one-of-a-kind location will be etched into all our memories forever and we’ll always look back at our time here fondly. Guests who met each other for the first time arrived as strangers and left as friends, meeting up each other again during their travels in Italy afterwards. We were very sad to leave and can’t wait to celebrate an anniversary at the Castello in future and to see Caterina again.||||Caterina, thank you for making this most special of events possible. We’re eternally grateful to you...

Read moreCalling this place a B&B is like calling Pizza Hut an Italian restaurant. ||||Caterina, the gracious owner and host, calls this "the castle you will want to return to", and this sentiment is echoed in the visitor's book: many people apparently stay for one or two nights, and then leave with the intention of coming back. We were lucky enough to be able to come back before having left: by extending our three night booking by two more nights, so we stayed here for five nights. ||||Our stay at the Castello di Tassara was the absolutely glorious getting-away-from-it-all pinnacle of our holiday (and we were in Italy for four weeks, in some seven or eight different places).||||Just a few notes:||- Tassara is right in the middle of nowhere, but it is a glorious nowhere: it is set on top of a hill with tremendous views, in a landscape that hasn't changed for two thousand years;||- you are staying in an actual castle that has been lovingly restored in wonderful taste, using only the best materials, beautiful furniture, etc; it has loads and loads and loads of room, inside and out, so there is always a nook or cranny that you can call your own;||- besides the wonderful pool there is a big fully-outfitted guest kitchen, that you can use to make yourself some lunch or to get together with some of the other guests;||- Caterina is a charming and beautiful host who is genuinely interested in her guests and does her best to make her home your home as well; and Violetta is a wonder of hospitability as well.||||Absolutely...
