We booked this hotel through a Voyage Prive offer and chose half board as it’s an attractive available option. Our double room was typical, spacious and clean, with air conditioning and a drinks fridge. We had to ask for extra pillows and pay for towels for the pool. The hotel has a pool area with sun beds and a covered seating area with tables. The staff were all very friendly towards the end of our 11 day holiday but at our first couple of meals we felt we got a frosty reception from the waiters until they realised we were happy to spend money on after dinner drinks. At evening dinner we also felt discriminated against compared to the bed and breakfast guests that were visiting and happily paying the €32.50 ea for their 4 course meals. When we asked if we could chose a table we were advised by the wait staff that they would need to check if it was possible which we found a bit odd. Little did we know also the impact that choosing half board would have on what would be available at dinner. The restaurant menu boasts 4 fine courses, a starter, 1st course, 2nd course and desserts. In each are 5 or 6 regular meals and 5 or 6 specials too. For those on half board the specials are not available unless you are prepared to pay the extra cost. (Wine is of course extra and water €2 a bottle) This restricted the availability of some meals and as the menu had apparently remained unchanged for the whole summer it meant that meal times were often repetitive and sometimes not quite what was described in the menu. Some evenings the service was really slow others quite rapid but often the food was served not properly cooked, lukewarm or cold (obviously expected in the case of a salad). There wasn’t a fantastic selection of wines but what was available seemed very palatable and the wine waiter seemed to know his stuff. Remarkably a guest on half board found items on their bill they hadn’t eaten or drunk. This was explained as a misunderstanding. We didn’t experience that ourselves during our stay. Breakfast was the usual continental style with a selection of cereals, meats and cheeses with bread and fruit. The hotel itself isn’t in Porto Pino but outside the village of Sant’ Anna Aresi about 3km away and a car is essential for anyone wishing to see the scenery, visit beaches and tour the island. The hotel does run a regular ride to and from ‘the Dunes’ for guests without transport. Sun beds at most beaches (spiaggia) are €20 for two including an umbrella. Overall I don’t think we’ll be returning to...
Read moreI have chosen this hotel to the proximity to discover the area and for being in comfort. Hotel staff is really nice, rooms are clean. Room 105 is very large and good, i was happy there but as i opted cross bookings i was moved to room 213 which was a bit dated, bathroom should to be updated. Room 201: mirror is missing here and the noise pollution is high coming from the rooftop AC equipments right in front of the opposite building and the pigeons. The view from the room is disappointing. This rooms should not be offered for guests. In this room the old AC is up to the bed you got sick if you switch in. Should be updated this equipment as well. I paid 166 euro for this room.|Let me highlight some constructive improvements: there is no yogurt at breakfast. The entrance door is not automatic when new guests come with luggages in hand would be nice to open automatically or the hotel staff should open which did not happen in my case. The entrance is not accessible for disable people due to the staires.|Overall good experience except my last night in 201, thank you for...
Read moreWe had some troubles on the day of arrival with an interconnected room and the limited level of sound proofing the connection doors. Managed lovely by switching rooms. After dinner, which is just brilliant and highly recommended, we came back to our new room to find out the air conditioning was not working. Switching rooms again at 11pm. A bit annoyed by the hassle we got a superb new room - with working airco.
The next morning, heading for breakfast, which is a treat. Plenty of options, same lovely staff, also non dairy milk is available.
The manager came to us after breakfast, making a generous offer to compensate for all the troubles of day 1. We felt overwhelmed, yet so heart warming.
The culture: amazing. They have raised money amongst staff to take care of surrounding animals. We kindly contributed to their program.
We’re not complainers at all, but we felt a bit like it. However, the staff and management erased all that by connecting and caring. Things can happen, always. But how one deals with it makes all...
