We spent 6 nights at this beautiful agriturismo of Antonio & Francesco. The whole family was really heartwarming and caring, so we really could enjoyed our stay there. Grazie ;-) We were the only guests during off-season, so we had the chilling pool after tough gravel rides to ourselves and also our apartment was super charming, decorated in Tuscany style; plus it had everything you needed. The whole farm is quite big, so there was a lot of places to check out, do some sports or just chill. The family also showed us the shared garden, where we could get fresh herbs for cooking. Francesco brought us zucchini, tomatoes and even a melon from there. Sooo nice & delicious!
The house itself is located 3km from Asciano in the middle of nowhere, totally perfect to relax and enjoy some quiet time. For cyclists it is also a cool location. We went through some desert parts of Tuscany, but also climbed up to the wine region of Pienza, which is more green and colorful. Totally different, yet both awesome to explore. On our first day we even managed to go up a little part of the famous Strade Bianche up to Monte Sante Marie. Best part, Antonio showed me the pressure cleaner for the farm vehicles, so I could clean our bikes there. Thanks again ;)
Lastly it's a good location to visit nearby cities like Pienza, Trequanda, Montepulciano and Siena. We can only recommend...
Read moreIl Poderino: what a lovely place! We have been there with our caravan in full silence and with a marvellous view. The three generation family of Il Poderino has an outstanding hospitality, is very friendly and helpful. In fact they are targeted to campers. But we were welcome with our caravan and they arranged the things we needed -toilet and shower-in an easy way. We had a wonderful week. Every morning we were surprised by Francesco with fresh vegetables from their own garden. We also enjoyed their swimming pool to cool down of the heat of the Tuscanian summer. At 3 km is a nice little town Asciano with shops, supermarket-Coop- and various restaurants. From Asciano there is a little train to Siena and Florence. The landscape is beautiful and very particular: the region is called Crete Senesi. What that means: go there and look for yourself. We enjoyed it very very much. By the way: Francesco speaks French and Monica...
Read moreIl Poderino is a perfect place to stay around Asciano. Location was perfect for us as we wanted to say outside of city, this agriturismi is located literally in the middle of working fields. It was a bit tricky to find (when coming to Asciano from Monteroni, on roundabout just before the town, don't follow the sign to city centre, but keep going on the same roundabout and you will see at the following exit signpost to Il Poderino, follow that on dirt road for about 5 min), GPS wasn't helpful. We were in Mela (apple) apartment, it had everything we needed, kitchen was equipped with all the basics and everything was spotless clean. The pool was fantastic, very clean, water cool, but very refreshing. There are dogs and cats on the farm, very friendly. Make sure to go to restaurant Il Paradiso to try homemade pici pasta....
