I can't say enough good things about this little hotel with a big heart. I stayed here this June and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located near the Abbazia di Monte Oliveto Maggiore, a gorgeous treasure of the Tuscan countryside and it's a beautiful 20 min walk. The hotel is a mix between a hotel and a tourist farm, offering all of the beauty of a rural tuscan experience (olive trees, cherry trees and lavender) with the comforts of a hotel, including a wonderful restaurant serving excellent local food with a beautiful patio. Breakfast was excellent with many options. The staff go out of their way to help you and make your stay pleasurable: one of the women in our group wasn't feeling well and they were wonderful about trying to ease her stay. ||Rooms were all very clean and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable as well. ||||The hotel is a great starting point to tour the Siena area and really enjoy the countryside, in fact even just sitting outside on the terrace is appealing! It is 15 min to the town of Asciano and many places are visitable within a 30-40 min drive, including Siena, Pienza and other jewels.||||||Can't think of one thing I...
Read moreWe stayed here for 7 nights and used the Piccolo Hotel as a base from which to explore the area by bicycle. Toscana is a road cyclist's paradise and the Piccolo is perfectly situated to take advantage of this as well as the history and beautiful scenery of the Crete Senesi. Siena, San Gimignano, and Volterra are all within easy striking distance as is the beautiful Benedictine abbey at Monte Olivetto Maggiore (1 km down the road). The food at the hotel was superb as were the vino rosso recommendation from Simone! We were very kindly afforded the use of the garage to store our bikes and in all aspects Simone and his team were first class hosts. The Piccolo Hotel San Valentino is definitely on the "must...

Breakfast was poor (in fact the poorest on our 6 day trip in Tuscany). The location was remote. Unless they fix wi-fi and give a proper breakfast (if this is important to you), you can definitely find something better in this...
