We had the most magical experience at Villa Medicea di Lilliano for our September 2024 wedding and highly recommend the venue and planning services to anyone planning a destination wedding in Tuscany. We reserved the entire property (La Torre Villas and La Corte Villa) for three nights – the first night we hosted a welcome dinner/pizza party on the lawn outside La Torre Villas, our wedding was held on the second night at the Villa, and we had local private chef company – Goodies – cater dinner our final night at La Torre Villas. ||Every single thing about our wedding week exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking views and the villa’s incredible architecture. The scale and beauty of the venue and accommodations were far beyond what we had imagined—honestly, the photographs on their website don’t even do it justice!||We worked with Chiara Ghilardi, the events Manager at Villa Medicea, in planning our wedding and all the surrounding events. I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful Chiara and her team are. Chiara made planning our destination wedding so easy, she compiled vendors who all brought our vision to life and put her heart and soul into making our wedding the most beautiful day I could imagine. From our very first conversation, she took the time to understand our vision and guided us in the right direction with every choice we made during the planning process. Chiara’s extensive knowledge of the area and local connections were invaluable. She not only planned our stunning wedding but also made sure the surrounding events were perfect and all of the food was amazing. ||Once we arrived at Villa Medicea we got to know the villa staff and Chiara’s events team. Holly, Lorenzo, Paola, and every staff member on site were attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making our stay and our wedding perfect. Throughout the week, and despite some incremental weather, we felt relaxed and confident allowing us to fully enjoy every moment of our celebration. ||The accommodations at La Corte and La Torre are stunning, spacious, and so comfortable. Breakfast is served daily on the ground floor of each villa in a large communal kitchen/dining area. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit and pastries delivered daily. Each property has a pool with ample seating and more stunning views. La Torre Villas are about a 10-minute walk or 1-2 minute drive down the road from – members of the staff were available to shuttle our guests throughout our stay. ||The night our guests arrived we had a welcome dinner/pizza party on the lawn outside La Torre Villas. We had such a fun evening with our friends and family with a perfect Tuscan sunset as the backdrop. Chiara was on site for the entire evening and set us up with the perfect caterer who baked wood fired pizzas on site and served amazing side salads and wine. ||The wedding itself was an absolute dream, a rainy day gave way to a perfect evening. Our ceremony took place on the terrace, right after the rain stopped, with thunder gently rolling in the distance. I just wanted to share my review/feedback of Villa Medicea di Lilliano for couples considering it
The venue has many WOW factors- our guests were super super impressed. I loved it as well because we could do very minimal decor and flowers and it was still breathtaking.
However, there were a few very very annoying things- I guess all a reflection on management and not the actual venue infrastructure.
I’ll review in order of events.
They say they have a dress steamer. I had to ask 5+ times for it AND get our wedding planner to call them multiple times to bring the steamer. When they finally did the steamer was broken and leaking everywhere, they weren’t helpful in fixing it. My mom had to take it apart and clean all the inside tubes to get it to work. We also had to ask even more times to get an ironing board
The mosquitoes are crazy crazy bad at La Torre residences, like we couldn’t sit outside the pool. A bit better at the venue itself but still pretty bad
The golf cart they claim to have to bring the wedding party to and from La Torre and the venue is absolutely not a golf cart. It was a super dirty old car- I was genuinely concerned I would ruin my dress sitting in it.
The aircon in the limonaia (if there even is any) is super weak and it was brutally hot to dance there in the evening of a 37C degree day. (Where you have the dancing part of the wedding)
It was a holiday in Italy the day of our wedding so their usual room service wasn’t available and they were absolutely no help in helping us find other things for lunch.
Overall it’s a 4 star venue with 1 star service/management
THE REAL kicker- all of the rooms at La Torre were robbed of cash (every single room- all of which have seperate key card access) on the night of the wedding. When I brought it up with the venue they were so not helpful saying ‘that is really strange only the bridal suite is cleaned on the wedding night’ my reply ‘well does the staff have access to all of the other rooms on the wedding night’ the reply was yes… ANYWAY we reported this and they went ahead and charged my card for all of the city tax literally that same morning (without my permission). No tact.
Editing my review based on Denise’s comments below:
regarding the steamer it was raised. Your staff watched us struggle with the broken and steamer and told us ‘use the iron instead’- us the iron! On a wedding dress?
regarding the robbery- I did speak to Erica the day it happened. Our wedding planner was upset that it was Erica sent to speak to us and not you the General Manager. There is nothing I could have done different on the day of regarding communication- I spoke to who you sent to speak with me.
the police report after. We did have an email exchange. You said you would keep me updated of the outcome. Which is why I waited 2 months to write a review- I gave plenty of time and you the opportunity to rectify...
