Il Gelso — Hotel in Bibbiena

We went to Il Gelso in June and stayed there for a week with friends and children (5 families). The place itself is amazing, with its clean, comfortable, spacious villa, spectacular view and beautiful surroundings. Everything was perfect... apart from the host and his daily visits and constant remarks, making us feel uncomfortable. We felt like being watched all the time. The host treats the facility like it was a museum and not a holiday house, especially not a house for families with children. If you don't treat the house and surroundings like a museum too, prepare for a lot of unpleasantness and forget about relaxing atmosphere. And you'd better not have any unfortunate accidents in the house or the host will come with the police officers and willa tryb to throw you out. Nevermind, the child almost cut themselves during bath because of the badly installed shower cabin (the glass broke when the child was inside with her father) and you wanted to pay for the damage which technically wasn't your fault. The host won't listen to you and will call you ill-mannered although you try to conduct a cultural discussion. You will reach an agreement in a company of a lawyer... We have never had such a bad experience with a holiday stay before. It cost us a lot of stress. It's a shame because we wanted peaceful and happy family holiday and instead...

In fact, I agree with the opinions that the place is spectacular, refined in every detail and beautiful. Nevertheless, it is definitely suitable only for a group of retirees, older people. It is not a place for families with children because the owners live in a lot of stress related to renting their property. Daily owner checks can be embarrassing. In our case, the unfortunate and unwanted accident (the bad adjustment of the shower cabin caused that during the opening of the doors the glass broke when the kid was taking a bath with his dad) caused a series of unpleasantness which ended with the arrival of he police and an attempt to throw us out of the property one day before the end of our stay. All about this place was just perfect. The house is beautiful in every detail, completely equipped and very comfortable! It's decorated and furnished with the highest standards and good taste! We spent there almost two weeks, in a big group of 6 families. We share the same opinion about this holiday and house. The swimming pool area, table tennis, large garden and spacious place for dining outside? Fantastic! We were amazed by the view, plants, cosy but lovely bedrooms and totally full-quipped kitchen.We couldn't ask for more family friendly house to rent! We wish to come back to...
