Il Patino — Hotel in Bientina

Our first impression of this little rural hotel was disappointing however it did grow on us. The rooms were comfortable enough and clean and the wifi was free. The service was friendly and helpful and the cafe/bar was open throughout the day for drinks. The hotel both inside and out was totally lacking in ambience and although there were big spaces to sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous Tuscan weather, there were no tables and chairs let alone umbrellas set up to do so. Eventually we found and dragged out some resin chairs and a delapidated old table ourselves into a shady corner where we shared the area with either midges or mosquitoes (luckily our repellant worked). We did feel slightly trapped here as we had envisaged being able to walk into a town for drinks and a meal after our hot day on the motorbike but there was none close enough to do so. Having opted to stay in the hotel for dinner, we were absolutely impressed with the range and quality of the delicious food served up by the restaurant. It was truly wonderful and we were even more pleasantly surpised by the bill. It was very cheap as was the cost of the room which also included a lovely breakfast. I booked this hotel for my daughter and friends while they were in Italy. I booked through booking.com and did it from the US. Very worried that the booking agency, hotel, etc would work out for my daughter and her 6 other friends. They attended the Medieval Festival in Vicopisano, Italy and they decided too late to get a room in Vicopisano. I looked under Trip Advisor and found Il Patino hotel in Bientina, Italy had very good reviews. This hotel turned out to be a wonderful find. When they got to the hotel their numbers had increased by two and the hotel very graciously accommodated them and modified their rooms for them with no charge. Rate was extremely reasonable and even included a breakfast. My daughter said the rooms were very clean, people extremely helpful and nice. The best part...when my daughter and her friends were going to hire a taxi to take them back to Pisa, the hotel staff offered to drive them to Pisa...for free...in two separate cars. This was way beyond the expected. It made me feel very comfortable knowing that my daughter and her friends were being well taken care of while in Italy. Needless to say, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone....

Esperienza decisamente deludente. La camera ha un arredamento bizzarro. Una camera tripla con 1 solo abat-jour su 3 letti disponibili tra l'altro con la potenza di una candela. Anche l'illuminazione centrale, applicata su di una parete, è da camposanto. La plafoniera ospita 2 lampadine ma se ne accende solo una. Il bagno è completamente privo di mensole, doccia compresa, per cui il bagnoschiuma bisogna appoggiarlo per terra e non si sa dove appoggiare gli occhiali quando ci si lava la faccia. Nella doccia manca un tappetino e sono scivolato un paio di volte, rischiando di cadere. Il rubinetto del lavandino è un capolavoro. Non risulta fissato per cui oscilla a solo sfiorarlo, non è dotato di miscelatore per cui bisogna regolare in maniera indipendente acqua calda ed acqua fredda. Quando si chiudono i rubinetti, bisogna ricominciare da capo. La sua collocazione poi occupa il lavandino ed anche sciaquandosi la faccia si riversa copiosamente acqua sul rubinetto. Farsi uno shampo è problematico e lavarsi i denti impossibile, a meno di non avere un bicchiere. Il gancio per appendere un asciugamano o un accappatoio è situato a 210 cm da terra, praticamente fuori portata per chi è alto meno di 180 cm. Il portarotolo me lo sono trovato in mano al primo utilizzo. Per buona misura la tv (ad altezza da giocatori di pallacanestro) con uno schermo piccolo (a dire tanto un 20 pollici...) ha smesso di funzionare dopo un ora ed il telecomando è indecorosamente sudicio e ho avuto timore di solo toccarlo. Anche la colazione è allineata con il resto. Di fresco ci sono solo croissant (1 giorno su 2 sono riuscito a prendere una sfogliatella, ma il giorno successivo non sono stato altrettanto fortunato) e yoghurt, il resto sono alimenti industriali confezionati. Di salato non c'è assolutamente nulla. Il succo di arancia è confezionato e risulta annacquato e troppo dolce. L'unica cosa positiva è la cortesia del personale, veramente gentile e premuroso che non può fare miracoli visto lo standard della struttura. La "base" dell'albergo sarebbe buona e basterebbe poco per renderlo confortevole. Abbiamo pagato 75 euro a notte che non sono pochi visto il livello. Soggiorno veramente di basso profilo, da scegliere solo se non ci sono...
