I haven’t written a review in some time, but I feel See Lodge requires a review. I’m not a very picky guest, as long as I get the food I ordered and accommodations reflecting the establishment’s asking price, I’m happy as can be.||||Hotel: If you want discretion, do not go there.||||It’s a new construction, sort of like a hotel-in-a-hotel. You can use the entire Quellenhof complex, but only See Lodge guests have access to the lodge. As it turned out, though, the hotel is more intended to convey the idea of luxury through social media as opposed to providing actual luxury. ||A good example would be that would be featuring guests on their own social media without informing them, let along getting consent. I wasn’t exactly thrilled to see myself in their Instagram stories.||So, if you want discretion, do not go there.||||Food: If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, do not go there.||||Weeks prior to our arrival, the hotel reached out about possible food intolerances or dietary restrictions. I listed each person of our party of four, and the respective requirements. Sounds more complicated than it really is. 1x anything goes, 3x no meat – easy as, right?||The second evening, the fourth course was a pasta dish (basically 10 linguine and a drop of sauce) with bacon, or, in our case, roasted onions. Except, it was bacon.||Look, I don’t tell anyone what to eat or how to nourish themselves, but when a hotel specifically asks what they should and can’t serve, get it right.||My insides can’t handle certain foods, I won’t bore you with anything beyond that, so after 4 courses, I spent some time hugging the porcelain throne.||The restaurant was “very sorry”, so much so that the drinks, a few waters and two or three glasses of wine, were on the house. Of course, that wasn’t mentioned until after dinner so nobody would order something extraordinary. Whatever.||Being given incorrect/incompatible food items continued throughout the stay. Apparently, beef broth doesn’t count as meat, neither does chicken.||On a side note, the service gets incredibly slow once the restaurant reaches about 50% capacity. You’re routinely sat for 3 to 4 hours for a dinner, and breakfast ends before 11, because people definitely don’t enjoy sleeping in on holiday.||So, if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, do not go there.||||Service: If you enjoy good service, do not go there.||||Housekeeping will return the room to arrival-spec, every day. Don’t expect the air conditioning to be set to where you had it, or window shades, or anything else, really. They will set the room the way they want, not you, the paying guest.||Since air conditioning is tied to a window sensor, it doesn’t work with the window opened. Housekeeping makes sure to keep windows tilted. It’s so nice returning to a hot and humid room after being outside in the hot and humid weather. Cheers!||For a hotel of its claimed class, the service seems impersonal and standardised, nothing special about it at all, nothing that would scream 5-stars.||So, if you enjoy good service, do not go there.||||Room: If you want safety, quality, high-end finishes, and actual luxury, don’t go there.||||Honestly, it was impressive at first. Your own building in the far corner, over two levels… until you look at details. The master bedroom has no separation to the bathroom, and the bathroom windows don’t have any blinds. If you need darkness to sleep, good luck.||The faucet at the sink spins feely and becomes a wonderful decorative fountain when turned upside down, which shouldn’t even be possible, and the duration of temperature changes of the water can be measured with a calendar. Some of the furniture in the room and on the veranda was stained and/or torn, some of the cushions had an adventurous scent, the audio system in the house never worked with Bluetooth, despite the room manual giving detailed instructions to make it work, the LED-lighting strips started coming apart, some wiring on the outside of the building definitely conveyed a Mediterranean flair, the fully equipped kitchen lacked any sort of cutlery or dishes.||The room shows well in photos, and seems to have been built solely for that purpose.||While the room’s direct access to the lower level via a lift could be convenient, it’s actually rather ill-conceived. The lift requires your room key card to work to get up, fair enough. However, if you forget the card, you can not only not get back upstairs, you also can’t get through the door to the lobby, or through the unsecured garage (yep, anyone can enter the garage, it’s always open and facing a public bicycle route). Your only option is to go through the bowels of the hotels and walk around the outside entirely. There are no phones in any of the corridors either, just endless shelves dotted with the same fake plants and décor items, each still featuring the price tag on the bottom.||So, if you want safety, quality, high-end finishes, and actual luxury, don’t go there.||||If you’re still with me, I admire your patience. I started off saying that I’m not a very picky guest, as long as I get the food I ordered and accommodations reflecting the establishment’s asking price, I’m happy as can be. I stand by this. It’s just that See Lodge got just about everything wrong it could. When I’m on holiday, I don’t want to run after everything, especially in an alleged 5-star house. ||At a not insignificant 5-digit Euro amount for an 8 day stay, I do expect service reasonably close to perfection, though. I expect a hotel that asks about food restrictions to get it right, I expect my privacy to be respected, and I expect a room that is kept the way the guests want it.||There are many hotels that get it right, even at lower classifications, there are many I’ve recommended to friends, family, colleagues, and clients over the years, many to which we’ve returned very happily. See Lodge isn’t...
Read moreThis resort does not disappoint in most matters as it offers the whole experience of Quellenhof Passeier and Chalet das Alpenschlossel as well as it's own facilities (huge amount of pools, saunas, activities etc). It's always a great vibe to walk around this huge hotel complex struture and then come back to the tranquility of See Lodge. Somehow though I felt the adult pools and sauna of Chalet Alpenshlossel are better, more unique, cozy and with better views. Just felt better there.|See Lodge structure is new and modern.|The food quality is superb although the breakfast is limited!|I was impressed as the whole complex delivers a very relaxing experience with real separation from adults and children areas (not only the See Lodge which is adults only), even with many children around you dont feel significant noise. It's really a tranquility heaven!|The cleanliness was great and the staff was overall efficient.||Nevertheless I felt somehow disappointed in some negative aspects of the stay:|- dinner: service at dinner is too slow. Food overall is high standards in flavour and presentation but the experience was somewhat boring.. always to have same table and the similar style most of the days. For me it just takes to much time.. They could have a salad buffet for example to give more fluidity between courses. The long pants requirements at dinner seems an absurd nowadays. All of this together contribute to a very strict like protocol dinner experience with good food but less enjoyable day by day. It could also have live performances at the dinner.|- breakfast: service at breakfast was inconsistent and understaffed. One person in the egg station (the only live station) was not enough! Food variety was limited. I felt disappointed. Although I must say the fruit area was always great. |- bath amenities: I found all the bath amenities underwhelming but especially the Dorfer Med bath products in the room felt really low quality, probably one of the worst I have encountered at a 5 star resort..I would totally replace them!!|- sauna and infusion events: most occur at the same time troughout the complex. I ended up by just going to the Passeier which was more lively and fun. By the way the daily "newspaper" should follow the same struture everyday and clearly mention if x activity is in x hotel because guest dont have to know the name of each sauna or activity place in each hotel. It was always confusing..|- sauna drinks: hot water and tea made in plastic cups are just not acceptable for today's safety standards! It should also be available ceramic cups at least for hot tea. In See Lodge saunas the vitality drinks felt too sweet and synthetic.|- decor: for me this was a big issue! There is just too much of everything in most places! Maybe that's a local thing..but velvet, coppers, gold and too much artificial plants everywhere just give a tacky feeling to the struture. In See Lodge the decor is better than the other two but still suffers from it. Furthermore the fact that in the main Passeier building most of the decor (almost all) has a price tag attached is just weird and cheesy.. Are they selling the used hotel furniture and decor?|- lights trough bedroom curtains - make me wake up very early everyday and not get enough sleep. Some struture should be added to block all light from outside if one wishes.|- main pool - it feels something is missing. The water shows are fine but the place should have been bigger. The proportions are not appealing. Besides the water was filled of fallen leaves and dead bugs. There should be superficial robot cleaners perhaps. The paddle board is very dangerous at least for a proper use but I enjoyed using it in seated position; The heated main pool was ok but still I preferred both the heated main pools on Passeier and Chalet das A., both better for swimming and views.|- the cool plounge at the sauna in See Lodge is too exposed. Not confortable to beeing naked (much better at CHalet das A.)||So in the end would I return? As the pricetag as it is I would not choose See Lodge again.. maybe the chalet Alpenslossel or Passeier. I just found there were no significant benefits for the See Lodge (besides the dinner food which was superb but the dinner expericence gets boring day by day), and the overall luxury of See Lodge still lacks a real genuine service and real luxury touches and perks. Just being more modern doesn't mean it is better,...
Will man damit Internationalität simulieren, sich „cool“ geben ?
So...
