Excuse the silly title, but a big part of this Agriturismo location relates to Hazlenuts. The farmland between the beautifully created accomodation and the lake is a dense forest of Hazlenut trees and on Tuesday nights a selection of Hazlenut based treats (and other savoury delights/local wines) are laid on by the owners.||Hazlenuts aside, onwards with the review.||The accomodation is set a few hundreds metres away from the Lago di Vico, well signposted from major road routes on your journey to the location. As you enter the property you can see no stone has been left unturned in making sure the grounds and apartments are kept looking amazing. A selection of automated lawn mowers ensure the grass surrounding the properties are kept in check 24 hrs a day, highlighting the lengths the owners have gone to. My daughter decided cats were driving these lawn mowers, which I think may in fact be true, either way they do a good job in keeping things tidy.||We travelled as part of a larger party, but our apartment was for 2 adults and our 2 very young children. It was easily big enough, very clean and stylishly thought out.||The kitchenette was great for making Bruschetta and various pasta dishes and the bedroom was easily big enough to fit us and the kids in cots.||We were positioned next to the reception, I assume to make our life easier in avoiding steps to the upper level of apartments. Check in was only on a saturday so never had additional noise disturbing us.||Some mornings we booked the breakfast laid on by the owners, which included both hot items and traditional italian breakfast items. Well worth the 5 Euro per person fee.||The pool area is beautifully created and maintained, it must of been cleaned daily as the water was always free of leaves/insects.||The views down to the lake are breathtaking and make the whole experience even more enjoyable/relaxing/glad you picked this place.||Nothing is too much trouble for the owners, they booked us a restaurant on one occassion and supplied us with two high chairs for the week.||There is a bbq which the owners will set up for you, leaving you to cook you food in your own time.||There was a good mix of ages/nationalities amongst other guests and even some lovely Romans, out in the countryside to avoid the city heat of Rome with there young daughter. ||The local area has plenty of restaurants and Gelaterias to frequent, we tended to go to Caprarola or Ronciglione and both were around 10 minutes away. Both lovely italian towns which make you feel like you're experiencing culture as well as sunny holiday.||We will definitely return here as it's a beautiful place. What speaks volumes is how happy the other guests look which also adds to the wonderful experience...
Read moreMy second visit to Valle Di Vico after a gap of three years.||Last time was great....and this time even better.||+ Still an oasis of peace & beauty in the middle of a lovely, undeveloped part of Lazio, surrounded by hazelnut plantations with a great view across the lake|+ The tasting session was even better than before: three types of wine, bruschette, cakes, biscuits, nuts....all lovely|+ The owners are still fantastic - nothing is too much trouble, always friendly and they seem devoted to creating a great environment for relaxation (immaculate gardens....plus I got up early one morning and saw someone cleaning the rim of the pool with a cloth and cleaning spray. Must have taken ages!). There’s a small footy pitch too|+ The NEW(?) €5 buffet breakfast (outdoors with a view out to Lago Di Vico) is awesome: pancakes, eggs, cereal, yoghurt, cakes, cold meats, cheese, pastries etc. along with the obligatory hazel nuts, hazelnut-chocolate spread, honey, etc. I can only assume my kids repeated trips to the buffet table made this a loss-making activity for that week (*okay and mine too)|+ No mosquitoes! I’ve literally only left the Italian countryside not covered in mosquito bites when I’ve been here - same for the whole family. A massive bonus. I’m sure this is not unique to this agriturismo but it’s a great benefit to this part of the countryside (a few wasps though)|+ Enough restaurants and pizzerias nearby that you have a bit of choice. Villa Farnese is a few minutes drive away and Rome doable in a day by train or car. The lake is a 2 minutes drive or 15 minute walk, with a dark sand beach, umbrellas, canoes and pedalos to hire, plus a snack bar and restaurant||If you want somewhere peaceful to relax and do not too much with kids of any ages, then this...
Read moreThis was our second visit having previously stayed in 2015.||The resort is perfect in every way. It is an agriturismo on the edge of a hazelnut farm leading down to Lake Vico. The grounds are beautifully maintained, better than some 5 star hotels I have stayed in. The houses are very comfortable and well thought out. The pool has a beautiful view over Lake Vico. ||This was a perfect place for a family get together as we had 3 separate houses but could lounge around the pool and gardens together.||However the best thing about this place is the welcome by the friendly family who own it. From the booking to check in, throughout your stay to check out, your every need is taken care of. For example they helped with recommending bakery and supermarket, booking the restaurant, lighting the wood fire for a barbecue. They also were there at breakfast providing a varied choice of eggs and fresh coffee (amazing cappuccino), as well as pancakes, home made cakes, home made chocolate spread and jams among other delicious treats. ||The highlight of the holiday was the tasting session, when the family made many different biscuits from their hazelnuts, as well as two types of chocolate spread and bruschetta to showcase their home produced olive oil. The family are very proud of their olives and hazelnuts and we were quite happy to sample the fruits of their labour. All washed down by locally produced, organic wines. Needless to say we did not require any dinner...
