We had an absolutely outstanding stay here. The location is ideal. The beach is incredibly lovely. The whole place is extremely family friendly with multiple playgrounds including one directly at the beach. We came with our 17 month old who had the time of his life in the beach for a week. For a campsite, the pizza is pretty good. It is very close to the town for amenities like supermarkets and restaurants. It is easy to access Venice and the other islands in the lagoon. I recommend bringing a bicycle if you can, as there are dedicated cycle paths everywhere and make transportation even easier around the local area.
Do note though that this is one of those Italian campsites that caters almost exclusively to clientele from Germany, Austria and German speaking Switzerland. The staff (who are incredibly friendly and helpful) will speak German to you by default. I knew what I was getting myself into as I came with my wife from Germany and her family, but some might find it… somewhat odd to be in what is essentially an exclave of Germany while on holiday in Italy. There were a few people from other parts of Europe, but I was definitely the only Anglophone around for the duration of my stay. I actually found this quite nice as all the other British and Americans are in Venice with their wheelie bags.
There are a lot of mosquitoes this time of year but there is not a whole lot one can expect the management to do about that as the campsite is situated near the lagoon. We saw them do a spray of the bushes with insecticide at one point during our stay. Bring coils or citronella candles with you.
We stayed in one of the little cabins, which was very nice, well appointed with excellent value for money. Perfect for a stay with a child.
The only major negative for us during our stay was the extent of the cigarette smoking, especially at the beach. Cigarette smoke was constantly blowing into our child’s face. As I mentioned, the clientele are mostly older Germans who don’t seem to have got the message yet about the link between cigarette smoking cancer and the dangers of secondhand smoke, or who simply don’t care. I understand that with indoor smoking bans, smokers have relatively few places to enjoy a cigarette, but a good compromise would at least be to make the beach smoke free.
A final suggestion: please add bigoli in salsa to the restaurant menu. It’s too addictive to have to...
Read moreAn absolutely wonderful campsite. Facilities block is newly built and toilets and showers are fully tiled in a modern and attractive design. No extra charges for showers, hot water 24 hours. Likewise dish washing area is well laid out with hot and cold water. Large capacity washing machines are available at €4 per wash. Dryers also available. All is kept clean and tidy by a large cleaning staff who are present all day.
The pitches are a good size and many have mature hedges on two or three sides which aids privacy. Tarmacadam roads run throughout the site. Recycling centres are conveniently dotted about the place.
Each site has an electricity supply and water tap (with threaded nozzle so you can attach a hose if you wish). We never had the electricity trip out, unlike in many other campsites.
The on-site restaurant provides the usually range of Italian and some German dishes at a reasonable price (but not rock bottom). The menu is also available for takeaway if you prefer to eat at your pitch which will save you considerably on beer and wine.
Also on site is a small Spar supermarket and separate fruit and veg shop as well as the "Bazaar" which sells all sorts of camping and beach supplies, toys etc.
The sandy beach is directly adjacent to the site and has public lifeguards on duty.
Also on site is a ladies hair dressing Salon which is very reasonably priced.
The pool area is excellent and nightly shows are provided.
There is an excellent kids club also.
This is very much like staying at a very good resort hotel except that you are in a tent, caravan or camper van rather than a room. Cabins are also available on site.
The only negative thing I can say is that the WiFi is grossly over priced but now that we have EU data roaming that is no longer a problem.
Many of the guests come back here year after year which speaks for itself.
I have no hesitation in recommending this campsite.
During our stay our 10 year old daughter became ill with a throat infection. It was great that the campsite has a Doctor on duty twice a day between 9.30am - 10.00am and 19.15 - 19.45. The doctor's office is located just behind the check in building. The consultation including prescription was €40 and the Doctor had...
Read moreWe returned to Dei Fiori again this year – and once again, it was a wonderful stay.|The campsite is clean, well-organised, compact, and ideally located just steps from the beach. Truly one of our favourite holiday destinations.|A big compliment for how the mosquito situation was handled this year – the difference compared to last year was like night and day. There were hardly any mosquitoes on the campsite. Whatever you did – it worked, and we are very grateful!||The only point of criticism this year is the animation programme. While the animators themselves were kind and full of energy, the overall concept was very loud and intense. Nearly every activity – whether sports or dancing – was accompanied by constant yelling and exaggerated cheering. It felt like movement and music alone were never enough – everything was over-commented and exaggerated. We tried participating during the first two days but ended up stepping back – it just became uncomfortable. The activities for kids also felt less creative, and the mini disco played the exact same playlist every evening, which quickly became repetitive. Last year’s team and programme were outstanding – creative, balanced, and joyful. This year, we would give two stars at most – and that’s only because of the friendliness of the team, not the concept itself. Last year, we hardly ever left the campsite. This time, we often chose to eat out or visit other campgrounds to escape the noise in the evenings.||We love Dei Fiori and will definitely be back – but we hope that next year the animation concept returns to the quality and thoughtful tone we so...
