This was a great place for my family to stay in Puglia. It’s located conveniently to act as a base to take day trips around the area. Keep in mind that your vehicle’s GPS will probably only get you close to the property—you’ll probably need Google maps to get you to the actual site. The property is an easy four-minute drive from the lovely town of Cisternino, where you’ll find all of the groceries, markets, and restaurants you’ll need, along with beautiful historic streets and sites. The masseria owner, Rino is a very warm and helpful host who often checked in with us to make sure that our needs were being met. He was very helpful in giving us great advice and directions for where we could go on day trips. He and his family, who live on this, their family olive orchard take very good care of all of their guests. This place is quite special, and you know it the moment you walk into the check in area, and you are met with a remarkable fragrance of dried lavender that is grown either on the property, or in the area. We stayed in a trullo that was picturesque on the outside, and modern, comfortable, clean, spacious, and well appointed on the inside. The kitchenette is actually equipped well enough to cook a variety of meals. Wifi and television were very reliable. The breakfast was an excellent selection of delicious baked goods, all prepared by Rino’s mom, and a variety of fresh fruits and nuts that are all grown on site in the family’s garden. The coffee is excellent and plentiful, and Rino’s mom was happy to cook us fresh eggs. The large swimming pool is very clean, and...
Read moreSet in the tranquil countryside a couple of kilometres outside the charming town of Cisternino, Masseria Peppeturro combines authenticity and comfort in the best possible way. It’s still a working farm, and the two original trulli on the property have been renovated into spacious guest accommodation. (We and the friends we were travelling with stayed in these; there are other, non-trulli apartments as well.) Owner Rino – the masseria has been in his family for multiple generations – was a responsive host, recommending places to eat (and making reservations for us when necessary), suggesting hikes/walks, helping us with directions. Most of the Valle d’Itria’s “name towns” are a 30-minute or shorter drive from here. The breakfast was amazing: fresh figs, persimmons, pomegranates and other fruits from their orchard; almonds and walnuts from their trees. Rino’s mamma baked a fresh cake for the breakfast table every day, and made us wonderful scrambled eggs. (The eggs came from the masseria’s hens.) Homemade jams, bruschetta with tomatoes from their garden and drizzled with their own olive oil….. the list goes on. The friendliness and welcome here extended across the language barrier (only Rino spoke English well, and our Italian was limited), his mamma answering my questions about her baking/cooking; his papa showing us the orchard, and cracking fresh walnuts that were drying in the sun for us to taste.|We spent 5 nights here – and I wished we’d booked a...
Read moreWe loved our stay at Masseria Peppeturro! Puglia was one of the last parts of Italy we hadn’t explored, and the Masseria made it truly memorable. It was the ideal base for daily trips to beautiful towns like Polignano a Mare, Locorotondo, Ostuni, and Alberobello. After visiting these tourist hotspots, it was wonderful to return and relax at the peaceful masseria.
What made staying at Masseria Peppeturro special was returning from bustling tourist towns to the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere of the masseria. I can't say enough about Rino and his parents, Maria and Giovanni. Rino was super laid-back, friendly, and incredibly accommodating, always available when I had questions, whether about parking or restaurant recommendations—every suggestion was spot-on. Giovanni and I bonded, picking figs together, and he even took me to his secret garden to harvest hot peppers for me. Maria, with her warm heart, made amazing scrambled eggs from their fresh, on-site eggs upon request at morning breakfast.
Our accommodations were fantastic—spacious with a private patio, luxurious pool area, and ample parking. I highly recommend Masseria Peppeturro for a truly authentic farm stay experience in...
