I Casali Del Moraiolo — Hotel in Collazzone

I am lucky to live near Florence in Tuscany but have just spent a few days at I casali del Moraiolo in Collazzone, Umbria! I have to say without a doubt that the vibrant green countryside , the timeless scenery dotted with hill top hamlets and the delicious local specialities have tempted me to move here ! Floriana our host couldn't have been more hospitable. Her contagious enthusiasm and passion for her beautiful country residence made us feel instantly at home. Infact the artistically renovated country houses which make up casali del Moraiolo have a warm, comfortable and welcoming feel to them . A unique feature is the light from the many windows which all look out onto rolling hills and views of medieval towns in the distance thanks to the elevated position of the property. Floriana has thought of everything that will make your time spent here something you'll never forget! From cooking classes, excursions to surrounding towns and wineries, a private wellness centre with sauna, jacuzzi and the possibilty of having a relaxing massage ! We explored the area with Floriana who knows everybody and everything ! We had such an amazing time exploring enchanting towns like Todi,Montefalco, Perugia , Deruta where we visited an amazing ceramic business and learnt about the whole process of producing an artistic piece from the charming owner! We enjoyed a very sophisticated Sagrantino wine tasting in the countryside of Montefalco and Floriana took us to a truly wonderful historic trattoria in Todi which has a spectacular outdoor terrace with breathtaking views but most importantly delicious traditional Umbria cuisine. My only regret was not having my art equipment with me as I could easily have spent the entire time at Casali del Moraiolo painting in the olive groves , surrounded by lavender and wisteria and listening to the lulling sound...

If Umbria is the Green Heart of Italy, I Casali Del Moraiolo is the epicenter of its beat. The property is an absolute oasis~ the lush, private gardens, the beautiful villas and pools, the winding pathways with stunning views of Umbria... this is the most peaceful place I have visited in recent memory. The air is filled with birdsong, and I can only imagine how beautiful it will be in the coming weeks when everything blooms!

I had the pleasure of staying in Villa Nocino, a charming and cozy 2 bedroom villa on the property. Nestled in the gardens, it offers complete privacy. The villa had a kitchen that was stocked with all of the tools needed for our time there, and local products available to buy! From the regional wine to local tomatoes, the variety was a wonderful addition.

Aside from the natural beauty and the charming villas, the best part of I Casali del Moraiolo is its owner, Floriana. A kind, welcoming woman, she makes you feel like a member of the family! She is a wealth of knowledge about her lovely region, and can organize an amazing assortment of excursions and experiences. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to make sure we had everything we needed. Next time I will plan a longer stay so I can visit the restorative, private spa located on site, and sit outside next to the pool at my villa and listen to the...

The l Casals Del Morailo was beyond our best expectations! We were amazed at the location way up on a hilltop and looking over the valley with the most beautiful sunsets! The infinity pool, the outdoor pergola, the pizza oven, the pasta making class, the wonderful house with the best accommodations… everything was simply perfect! But most all, the people, from Daniella to Floriana to her daughter Lucia and her husband Layo, what a pleasure, what a great family, what wonderful hosts. We have made friends in Umbria for life and we cannot wait to return! Oh, and I forgot to mention our trip to Deruta to visit the pottery making store and factory and our surprise visit with the Mayor, WOW, words cannot describe! All I can say is go to Umbria, go to this wonderful and magical hilltop place and your dreams will unfold. Thank you so much Floriana and family for making our trip to Italy the best one out of the 6 times I have visited your beautiful country!
