Be very careful!||On approaching the property we wondered what we were letting ourselves into.||The car park was overgrown and the place was deserted.||Reception were particularly unhelpful...restaurant closed at 2pm and even though we arrived just before that time, there qA no offer of food or room service. We had prebooked a meal for 7.30pm (in January!) only to be told that they had a block booking, the restaurant did not open til 8pm and even then we would have to come along after 9pm and choose from a set menu that was for the block booking.||Booked a Country Superior Dependance. The room was terrible. It was clean but it was sparse and barren compared to the web pictures. The sofa was stained and ripped and the terrace was dressed with 2 half empty tubs...the hotel later explained due to the weather albeit no other hotel on our trip had such issues. The living room would challenge anyone's idea of comfort.||We requested a room change but could only be offered a similarly uninspiring room without a balcony..but the promise that we could change the next day.||On reflection we decided not to stay. Reception then tried to offer other rooms albeit they had earlier said we had seen the one available.| |Reception, after a prolonged call with the hotel director, insisted on a 2 night no show cancellation charge notwithstanding that we had shown up and the hotel had been unable to offer the accommodation booked as described on its website. Despite numerous exchanges since, the hotel insists on keeping its 2 days payment. Frankly they need the money to put some furniture and feeling into the room that we were offered.||Just compare the pics!||As I say...this is the only hotel I have ever...

The setting overlooking the Umbrian countryside and the character of the old building is wonderful but there are a number of things that let it down, so it fell short of a 4 star experience for us and our small group.||I believe it was converted to a hotel 40 years ago and the bathrooms look like it. Dirty and missing grout and sealant, no basin plug and many of our group had problems with leaking shower screen.||The fridge contained two bottles of water when we arrived for our 5 day stay but we were told we would not get any more, this was just a welcome gesture. There was a kettle in the room but nothing to go with it, after the second day they put in two cups and a bowl of sugars but no coffee or tea!||There was no mattress protector on the beds and the electrical sockets are for the old smaller diameter pins, the TV did not work even after the hotel tried resetting it.||We had quite fun cookery course but hard to tell how good the restaurant was as we were on a pre-arranged set menu. We could have done without a dog being allowed in the restaurant which barked a lot and the staff would not do anything about it.||Our rooms on the first floor had a terrace which gave wonderful views of the countryside. They do however need to modernise rooms and service as it is only a 4 star on paper i.e. it ticks the right boxes like a pool (normally only open from June), a spa (only available booked in advance) and a 24...

We planned our wedding at the Relais il Canalicchio with close family and friends. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience, very clean rooms, good breakfast, good options at the restaurant, lovely 360 views.

Francesca thoughtfully helped us plan our wedding taking care of all the requests we had and helping with menu, flowers, music. She was very nice to have a couple of videocalls with us prior to the wedding in order to meet and discuss all the details. She even helped us with flowers, music etc.

The rooms were lovely, the terraces had a great view, the tower room was also nice, only we had a bit of bad luck as the night prior to the wedding there was a big thunderstorm that caused a minor flood in the tower room which led to an electrical power failure and caused a delay in the wedding schedule.

The staff was very friendly, especially one of the waiters named Hamza who was really cool and tried to accommodate all our requests, despite his superior, a woman named Sandra, who did not want to serve us after midnight and was rude to us repeatedly, even though we did not make any disturbance.

Would recommend booking a couple of days here for your special event or for a...

Great property, wonderful view from the terrace! Breakfast has lots of options with eggs, bacon, pastries, cold cuts, fruit and vegetables, jams, etc. Dinner was okay-ish. Wine was great, but the food was quite pricey and dissapointing: the steak was impossible to chew. Also, just a friendly side note for the F&B manager of the property, it's very dissapointing to overhear the "stories'" about "how stupid some guests are" from the staff sharing them in the kitchen area - very unprofessional, something to definitely bring up to your servers attention if you want to keep up with the level of service you are aiming for. The Front Office staff and Housekeeping team was very nice and friendly on the other hand.

Location is very special and amazing. An old medieval town, the rooms are all in different buildings. Not modern at all but okay, probably they need to be freshened up. AC available. What is really bad, unfortunately is the poor service for breakfast and dinner. Is a real pity, breakfast is terrible absolutely not okay for a 4 star hotel. Quality of the food poor and very little variety. The staff is absolutely not enough, a total caos both at dinner and at breakfast, it need an immediate upgrade. It was really disappointing the experience we had at breakfast, the place was dirty, no table service. I wouldn’t recommend it for this reason.
