Outstanding ! A rarety ! The mountain spirit in a refuge as in the past. My best experience on a 3 week hike between Bodensee and Gardasee. I am rarely so laudatory so please keep it secret or tell it only to decent and respectful people.
The recipe for such a miracle? Keep it small ! Small is beautiful ! It is a small refuge in a large green and desert valley with tumbling streams and torrents everywhere. The refuge remained small thanks to the remoteness, which allows sorting among hikers (no ski lifts) as well as supplies (by helicopter). It is quality first: of the site, of reception, of accommodation and meals, over quantity, without overcharging or overpricing, contrary to many refuges more accessibles !
Cecilia treats her guests magnificently. She takes time for everyone, she likes to talk about her job. In 2023, she was very well supported in the service by two kind and pleasant students and by an old lady and a kitchen helper. It felt like a family but not at all ! Best night of sleep (I was alone in the dormitory) and naturally, dinner was a treat: minestrone (or knodel), beef stew with mushrooms and puree, then tiramisu. Thanks a lot and please keep...
Read moreWe spent a night in rifugio S. Dorigoni in late July 2020 in a group of 5 people. Let me say that it was one of the best moments in the whole year for us. The rooms are comfortable, clean. The staff is doing their best to maintain all safety anti-COVID measures. In the evening we had an absolutely fantastic dinner with great food, and we were even getting a second portion of every dish (those who were hungry enough). This was followed by a calm night and a great breakfast. We then hiked to the Sternai lakes, which is around 350-400m more ascend. The views in the whole valley and especially the lakes are absolutely fantastic.||||I would say that I never met such hospitable staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and smiling all the time, allowing everyone to instantly forget about the difficult ascend with over 1km vertical drop. We are all very thankful to all the staff and, in particular, to the hostess, Cecilia, for great organisation and management of the rifugio. We live in Trento, and Dorigoni is, perhaps, the best rifugio among those that we visited in Trentino so far. Big thanks to all the staff. Highly...
Read moreMy friend and I booked a 5 day walk through the region starting and ending at Refugio Dorigoni. With absolutely no expectations of the walk, refugios, alpine area (because we are silly Australians), we were just blown away and super impressed with this place. Cecilia, Lorenzo and the entire staff are such great people, the service amazing and have left me with such amazing memories. Simone (chef) would make the most amazing food each night. The best food I have tried in Italy so far. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. Will be back one day for another perfect experience Tyson-...
