Our 2 night stay was simply perfect all around. The proprietor, Angioletta, has created a beautiful B&B with a warm and family friendly atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, very well furnished, very comfortable, and super clean. Breakfast included several choices of home made pastries, juices, yogurts, cereals, and made to order omelettes, The dining area is large, offering areas for groups to gather. A separate small bar makes available several choices of adult beverages. ||While the drive from town to the B&B is not a great distance, perhaps 7-10 min, it does offer many exciting switchbacks and outstanding scenery along the way, making the trip an adventure of its own. We stayed 2 nights and wish it was longer. The Refugio is beautiful in every single detail. So cozy and comfortable. Our room had a Finnish sauna that was superb. I loved that it is a working farm with cows and soft bells from the meadows. This family run Refugio is all you hope for. We hiked up above the Refugio on arrival and then did a longer hike to Rif Fonteghi and back the next day. Excellent. The meals prepared by Angelika were all excellent “foodie grade” meals. We were amazed that with only 2 or 3 booked rooms during our mid-week October stay she was able to offer the entire menu. Great wine selections. Spritzes on our mountain view deck after our hike. Dolce “sorpresa” con sorpresa Siamo stati a pranzo in questo locale attirati anche dalle ottime recensioni, non posso dire di aver mangiato male, ma sia per il rapporto qualità/prezzo sia per l’effettiva ricercatezza del menù , non posso affermare di aver mangiato bene. Abbiamo preso come antipasto SFERA MORBIDA DI CAPRINO IN CROSTA DI PISTACCHI E RIBES ROSSO CON PAN BRIOCHE AL TIMO, senza infamia e senza lode, più altisonante che impressionante, due SPAGHETTINI AL TORCHIO DI BRONZO AL CACAO CON RAGÙ DI CAPRIOLO TAGLIATO AL COLTELLO, idem anzi cacao non pervenuto e capriolo al limite del sapido, quasi salato, due contorni discreti e per finire la famosa sorpresa…. Uno strudel buono e una fragole, kataifi, gelato di fragola alla ricotta….e qui viene il bello, il gelato in realtà era al lampone e cirmolo cioè quello abbinato ad un altro dolce, una crema catalana per l’esattezza. Al primo assaggio mi accorgo che il gusto non corrisponde affatto ad un gelato di fragole e ricotta, ma per educazione metto in discussione il mio palato , quindi continuo ad assaggiare sto gelato assieme alle fragole ma la cosa non mi convince, allora lo faccio assaggiare a mio marito, non capendo che cosa c’era che mi sgradiva, e anche lui mi conferma non sapere di fragola e ricotta. Essendo fortunatamente una pallina minuscola, finisco il tutto ma mi rimane un gusto non molto gradito in bocca. Quando arriva il cameriere chiedo conferma se quello che mi era stato dato fosse gelato alla ricotta…. Risposta: no , effettivamente hanno sbagliato era quello al lampone! Si gira e se ne va! Ma dico neanche un mi dispiace, ha gradito…. Niente. Primo: potrei essere stata allergica ad un ingrediente, motivo per il quale non avevo scelto l’altro dolce , secondo: se ti accorgi di aver sbagliato un piatto,quantomeno ti scusi.
