Agriturismo "il Maggese" — Hotel in Cortona

What can we say about our stay at Il Maggese? Everything at this Agriturismo is a product of the love that Flavia and Roberto have poured into their family property. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with not only the necessities but also beautiful antiques and vintage objects which really add to the ambience. Our apartment, Diana, was full of charm . The property is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and fruit trees, and the abundant produce is all there for you to taste at breakfast and also at dinner if you choose to eat at the property. Flavia and her staff cook everything with heart and soul and most of the food is 0km, fresh from farm to table…you can taste it too! The breakfast tomatoes are the best I have ever eaten and I will be dreaming about them for a long time. There is ample space in the large garden and pool to be able to relax and read without feeling like you are encroaching on the personal space of others-and if you crave peace and quiet then this is the place for you. Flavia was so helpful when we needed to book restaurants both in Cortona and further afield, and she was always available if anything was required. We were sad to leave and hope to return again. Il Maggese is an historic family owned property located in the heart of Tuscany, about 10mn by car to Cortona. We booked several apts for a 12 family member reunion. Some apts are gigantic and have all their old world charm and beauty, others are smaller and modernized, so it can accommodate large groups or couples for a romantic get away, it is also child friendly . It is easy to get to from Florence or Rome, a car is necessary to get around but some family members came by train very easily. The apts are impeccably clean, nicely appointed, and very comfortable. Our host, Flavia, the great grand daughter of the original owners, is a true gem. From serving a generous and tasty breakfast to arranging a bike tour, cooking classes or truffle hunting, she went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. She now feels like family, we have all adopted her! The property is beautiful, surrounded by hills with olive trees, with a very nice swimming pool. We stayed a week here and it was an exceptional experience. The apartment was so nice, we opened the windows to let the cool air flow through. It was a little hot one night and we ran the air conditioner during the night, it worked perfectly. The bed was very comfortable. The hostess of Il Maggese is so kind and accommodating! She helped us plan our trips and made some arrangements with people she knows for wine tasting and an e-bike tour through the country. We were there during the grape harvest and we were able to watch how the grapes are picked. We took the train for day trips to see other places as the location is in the central part of Italy.
