This is the most pleasurable review we have made. If heaven could come to earth it would be at Camping Rio Verde! We came here to stay 3 nights but after 1 night we decided to stay 6, it was so good. On arrival we were greeted by the people we now know are part of the family of owners. Immediately made us very welcome. They seemed to go out of their way to remember and use our first name, a nice touch. The pitches will please everyone there are some slightly sloping if you want some elevation, other dead flat. There are some with dense shade from the incredibly tall pine trees and others with no shade. The great thing is the owners give you advice on where to pitch but the decision is entirely yours! Sanitary facilities are just 100 meters from the centre of the main camping but when you get there you are rewarded with one of the most modern and clean facilities, we have encountered and as a bonus take 3 steps more and you can view over the fence the ponies in their paddocks. Yes, the site is attached to what looks like a sizeable farm. There is a very reasonable priced Restuarant/Pizzeria and bar with a lovely terrace overlooking the swimming pool. It is no wonder it is good as two of the owners run it, one producing wonderful dishes (My wife said you should try the chicken which she found delicious) with produce which, as much as possible, comes from their own land. The other lady looks after you at the table with every attention including her good English (Francesca). Talking about the pool. It appears that this is cared, yes, I mean "cared" for by another one of the owners who, unlike the ladies, is not Italian but Dutch (Ebbo) and speaks very good English. The pool is big, beautifully clean and with plenty of seating/loungers. He even has a robot lawn mower keeping the grass tidy. There is a hatch to the bar. There is so much to do in the area with walking and cycling a must. In our opinion the star visits are Assisi and Gubbio, absolutely beautiful medieval towns. I think you must by now have the impression that we highly recommend Camping Rio Verde and will definitely return when we can. Sitting here now in the "dappled" shade of the pine trees, it is fantastic, so peaceful and...

It took a little over two hours to drive there from the city, and even though we arrived late (9:30pm) Francesca and the other staff were very accommodating, helping us choose an open camping spot and making sure we'd had dinner. There were lots of other tents and campers already there, mostly families and several professional hang gliders who were in town for a competition. ||||For hiking, if you follow the path towards the camping ground's horses, to the river, you will soon find yourself along a great path into the mountains towards Gubbio. If you head back to the main road before turning onto the country road leading to RioVerde, you will also find yourself at the edge of the Monte Cucco National Park, which is equally full of hiking trails, and maps of the trails are for sale at the RioVerde Reception. ||||Beyond hiking, my boyfriend and I enjoyed a 1-hour horseback ride, at €20/each, and then had dinner at the campground. The food was nice. If you're looking for a place to get out of the city but still enjoy the comforts of a bar/restaurant and a clean location, RioVerde is for you. We really...
