Locanda Dell'Era — Hotel in Dorio

Beauty, serenity, poetry... It is a small paradise in a larger paradise which is Como. The place is beautiful, clean, with the nicest host you can find welcoming you in their beautiful family and their beautiful house. You wake up to the breathtaking scenery of lake Como and the mountains, you continue with an excellent breakfast (have to mention the cold cuts, the scrambled eggs, the croissants and the coffee), and then you can spend the day hiking to the mountain trails on a savage beach, taking the train for Colico if you want the resort vibe, or Dervio and even Lecco. Everywhere you will find what to do, what to see and enjoy your day which can end with a meal at the locanda's restaurant (MD) where you have new dishes every day and the ribs and pizza's (our daughter had almost every evening a "I tre porcelinni" pizza) are absolutely gorgeous at more than reasonable prices. Not to mention the sweets which are a work of art. The garden offers you so many spots to sit and enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine, to read a book or simply listen to the wind. And again, the hosts are so nice, educated and helpful people you just don't know how to thank them. We will always stay here...

Very small place on the very outskirts. Be very careful if u r booking this for Airbnb. You would have very limited connectivity. Not all the trains stop at this stop, so it becomes extremely difficult to commute. So don’t plan this unless you don’t have your own car. Restaurant was nice and food was super good. So if u are passing by and hungry, then you should definitely stop for a great meal. But not specially for just this. For Airbnb/hotel, especially for first timers for lake como, I would suggest to stay in one of the main areas like lecco, belaggio, menaggio, varenna. Cz nearest ferry station is varenna and you will spend a lot of time back and forth travelling from this place and keeping a track of trains(that stop) . And especially be aware of mosquitoes overall in the area. I was bit so hard and was all red and...

The absolute worst hotel I've ever been to. Incredibly unfriendly and rude couple running this hotel. Parking space was promised but not available. Wifi was promised but not available. Room with a view was promised but not available. All with no help or assistance whatsoever from the owners. Had to pay for the entirety of 3 nights but left after the first night. We rather pay a second hotel at double the cost than staying...
