My only regret is that we did not stay longer. The host, Guiliana, could not have been more helpful. She offered tons of advice on places to visit, local eateries, and even invited us to attend a local choral concert she was participating in. The apartment is spacious, bright, and fun. There are poetry books lining the hallways and poems artistically arranged around the living space. There is attention to even the smallest of details. The common room is beatifully furnished and comfortable. The breakfast is made to order and includes eggs, cereals, breads, yogurt, fruits, juices, vegetables, pancakes, and more. There is also an outdoor seating area with expansive views of the beautiful surroundings. The charming town of Enna is only a 10 minute drive and is worth a half day exploration. The views from the castle are among the best in Sicily. The B and B is also about a 10 minute drive to the Villa Romana del Casale-- an extraordinary circa 400 AD Roman villa that has the best preserved and intricate mosaics in Sicily. The mosaics of woman participating in the Olympic pentathelon as well as Roman soldiers capturing lions in Africa will undoubtedly change your perception of life in ancient Roman times. This boutique hotel is one of the best bargains to be found considering the quality of the apartment, the food, the setting, the personal touches, and Guliana's...
Read moreThe title of this review pretty much sums up the our experience of La Casa del Poeta. It is the perfect combination of rustic and well appointed. We were two couples touring Sicily and it was toward the end of the season. Our host Guiliana was so lovely: helpful, informative, busy but always smiling. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable. The decor was tasteful and eclectic. Over my husband's and my bed was a handmade set of suspended linen "pages" (as big as a headboard) with different lines of poetry that we could change to fit the mood or set the tone. There were so many inventive touches of this sort. Our breakfast were delicious and Giuliana had recommendations of places in the area to dine. She scheduled a private cooking class for the four of us, followed by a guided hike at a nearby state reserve. Both were superb. We learned so much and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. We were sad to leave our charming country estate, but we had more of Sicily to visit. As a parting gift, Guiliana gave each of us individually selected laminated poems which will be...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night but next time when we are in the area, we will definitely stay here again. The Sicilian Outlet Mall is just a 25 minutes drive and the Mosaïcs are also not far away.|We had the 2 adjoining rooms for just the 2 of us, and liked the design. Someone complained about the lights but in this room( we only used the room next to the bathroom and I did not pay attention to the other room) there was a good readinglight on one side of the bed and good bathroom/ makeup light. With the shutters closed we did not hear the barking dogs. |Breakfast was more than sufficient: brown toast, croissant, eggs, salami, cheese, yoghurt and very good coffee.( and lots of teas to choose from).|The staff is not Italian indeed, but very friendly and helpful. We appreciated the honesty bar and enjoyed having a drink outside under the huge cypress tree and with a great view.|Good wifi and...
