I stayed at Miramare residence with my partner for 7 nights in mid-August 2014. The atmosphere is unique and quaint with well spaced semi-detached houses with a front verandah among pine trees and well tended cactus gardens, BBQ areas, a laundry house, a breakfast/bar, spacious parking under the trees situated across the road from a public beach and within walking distance to the town centre. ||||The daily tariff is not cheap, and at par with that of a 3 star hotel. However a few strange and awkward hotel rules have removed some of the pleasure whilst residing there.||||The room is cleaned on alternate days, and limited to the bathroom and bedroom only. The kitchen is never cleaned. Only two rolls of toilet paper are allocated per room cleaning session, and a roll won't be replaced until completely used up. The two tiny soap bars and two soap liquid packets which were used up by the second day were never replaced. ||But most surprising was the system used for breakfast. Every guest was allowed just one cornetto or focaccia (to be ordered the day before), one cappuccino or latte and one espresso, a glass of juice (or a glass of the delicious almond milk) one yoghurt, cereal (choice of 2) and bread with butter and jams. There was no fruit or cakes, both of which are typical in Sicilian breakfasts, let alone hams and cheeses. We would have preferred not being served breakfast (with appropriate reduction from the bill) as we could have easily prepared it in the room's kitchenette which is even supplied with a pot for cooking coffee. ||||The two ladies serving breakfast were very cordial and pleasant. We were offered a typical Sicilian tart (over and above our daily ration) on the 15th August as this day is an important feast. ||||Another surprise was the charge for using the room's air conditioner. A card with chip is given to guests at check-in and this has to be inserted in a unit counter in the room so as to activate the air conditioner. Not knowing the rates that would apply we decided not to make use of it altogether, unwillingly preferring to bear the heat in the mid-August nights. ||||The kitchen is well equipped with plates, cutlery, a chopping knife, pans, pasta sieve and even a cheese grater. The fridge/freezer and hob worked well. However no liquid soap or sponge is supplied and these have to be purchased from the grocer in town. We ended up leaving most of the soap behind us as we hardly used any in the week we stayed there. ||||Of interest is a cleaning fee at the end of stay of €35 (when staying more than 3 nights) which was listed on a brochure we picked up at reception. However we were not charged this fee, perhaps because we used booking.com to book our stay. ||||So to conclude, Miramare is a wonderful and still new resort complex on a marvellous island but with a few unusual rules that can taint the...
Read moreWe stayed for a week there and it was amazing, we loved it! The Staff are excellent and very helpful all of the time. Our Cottage type room was cute and had all the amenities you want especially for a hotel that's branding itself on an out of the way location and an eco residence outback type of service. Bathroom and showers all worked well and air-conditioning was excellent! Rooms are a touch small but we were ok with that too as the surrounding gardens and BBQ areas were nice to have a relax in. Cleaning service was on alternate days and very good. All in all an excellent experience we didn't really expect! Then there's their on location restaurant 'I Supori" run by Katerina and her Dad the MASTER CHEF by any world standard who produced exquisite palate Sicilian delicacies every evening for us!! This restaurant and Chef along with its always happy staff deserve world recognition its so fantastic!! Travel around Favignana we used electric bicycles and that's more than enough to go discover the whole island as its roads and tracks are all flat and easy to cycle. Thank you Miramare for a lovely stay for me and...
Read moreWe arrived to Favignana's port , phoned them to ask how to reach the place , the said to us that they would've sent a van to pick us up charging us 10 euro . After 35 minutes the van arrived and it was only 500 meters away, so we got inside it and reached finally the place . Got off the van we were trying to check in and they said to us to wait in the waiting area (there was only one couple that they were dealing with), by the way After 30 minutes we have finally been welcomed to check in , and charged 20 euro for the pick up service. (By phone they didn't said it was 10 euro per couple) . We paid 130 euro per day and not even the breakfast was included . The rooms were infested by ants and lizards. My girlfriend has been stolen the spray deodorant and when I ask about it to the receptions they said that was weird but did nothing about it. At the end we did the check out and been informed that 70 euro were already being detracted from my credit card as...
