I spent a lovely day at Ramuse with my family from the USA. We met Paolo upon arrival. He warmly greeted us and explained the itinerary for the day. We met the adorable and very friendly truffle dogs and began our search. We were able to dig up the truffles ourselves and filled a basket with these delicious treats. After about an hour we walked back towards the cottages. The view was spectacular and Paolo was knowledgeable, warm and inviting. We stopped on the way back at a chicken coop where we picked up fresh eggs to make tagliatelle with. We had a fabulous lunch, with farm fresh ingredients, delicious wine and top notch service. We enjoyed watching the pasta be made and tried to pick up tips so we could recreate a similar meal. We finished off the day with some of Paolo’s vino cotto, which he aged for 14 years. It was a wonderful day to explore an area of the Marche that was new to us. We truly felt welcomed and we are already talking about returning in the fall for a white truffle hunting experience.

We booked the truffle hunting experience with Paolo through the website, and he replied quickly and was very flexible with our schedule. (Although I don’t speak Italian, Paolo communicated with me perfectly in English, which made everything smooth and easy throughout our trip.) Paolo shared so much fascinating knowledge about truffles, and with the help of his amazing dogs, we found plenty within just an hour. It was both fun and rewarding, and also heartwarming to see the close bond between Paolo and his dogs. Along the way, we met adorable donkeys, tasted fresh jujubes and berries, and even collected freshly laid eggs for lunch. The highlight was enjoying fresh truffle pasta and wine under the grapevines—an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended, and we would love to visit again!

My family had the lovely pleasure of joining the truffle hunt earlier this month. Following Paolo and his dogs, we learnt much about truffles and the symbiotic relationships with its environment (and also how each of his dogs have its own unique and and amusing personality haha). Thereafter, we had a hearty lunch (home made pasta made right in front of us!) which of course included the truffles just picked. All in all, a very memorable and educational experience. Paolo and his aunt are both so hospitable and kind!

Paolo has turned this place into an amazing and relaxing home away from home. Our room (we had one of the bigger ones) was spacious and furnished with a very nice and authentic feel (no Ikea furniture here - that would be totally out of place). The room stayed cool, even with high temperatures; leave the shutters closed during the day and open windows at night (the only sound you will hear are the donkeys and birds waking you up in the morning). In an ideal world, the bathroom could have been a bit bigger but he made the best out of the available space, you have everything you need and it is beautifully decorated. ||The whole place invites you to relax, read a book, have a glass of wine (the wines are locally produced and very good!) and take in the gorgeous scenery. ||The location is good as well – it is a bit remote (but this is part of the charm) so you will need a car. There are some lovely villages in the area, a couple of small cities (Ascoli Piceno and Fermo both make for a pleasant daytrip) and in an hour or so you can get to the beach or the mountains. Paolo can give you more personal advise and he also has lots of books, leaflets, etc. to guide you to what you want to do or see. Do make sure to plan your visits before or after siesta because shops and bars tend to close after lunch and usually do not open again before 16h30 or 17h. ||But that should give you ample time to be back before dinner …. Paolo and his aunt prepare a simple but delicious 3-course dinner every day and it is definitely worth it. Local produce, vegetables from his own garden, the best olive oil, truffles found by his dogs, etc. Breakfast is definitely better than the average typical Italian breakfast: fruit right of the tree, homemade jam and fruit juice, bread, cheese, ham, tomatoes and on some days eggs. ||The only thing to take into account: if you don’t like animals, don’t stay here. The numerous cats, dogs and donkeys walk around freely and some of them tend to be curious about the humans that sit in their garden :-) We loved it (and so did all the guests who were there at the time) and spend hours cuddling the cats and had fun with the donkeys trying to sneak their way to...
