Arriving a Casal dei Fichi you instantly know you're in the best hands and that you've arrived somewhere truly special. Hosts and owners Bob and Ian (plus furry co-hosts Obi and Jakes!) immediately make you feel like you've arrived home. (A much more stunning, picturesque, and fragrant home than anywhere I've ever lived, but that's a different story.) For the week, I felt I was right where I belonged nestled beside the seemingly endless sunflower fields, lounging by the pool, snoozing in the beautifully renovated rustic farmhouse, making pizza and making new friends alongside hosts and guests on pizza night, and getting the best possible insider tips from the locals themselves (many of whom are repeat visitors, because, well...duh. Who wouldn't want to return to paradise?!). Just a short drive from Citivanova (where you can arrive easily by train and rent a car) the area around Casal dei Fichi is far from any tourist traps. The area itself is stunning and surprisingly easy to navigate--though getting lost wouldn't be the worst thing. You'll no doubt stumble upon one of the many hidden gems Le Marche has to offer: family owned wineries, worn out sheep dogs snoozing by the side of the road, or that perfect vista to snap a pic of the family for your next holiday card. The rolling hills are covered in vineyards, sunflowers, and classic Italian farmhouses, you won't be able to put your camera down. No Instagram filter necessary. Perfect for couples, families, or traveling with friends, you'll find everything you need in the fully equipped apartments. Cook dinner in your kitchen and eat on the terrace over-looking the valley, or take a drive to the Michelin recommended Le Logge in the nearby town whose antipasti will make you contemplate your life choices. I cannot recommend Casal dei Fichi enough. I already can't wait for my return to my newly adopted...
Read moreWe had a wonderful, relaxing time at Casal dei Fichi. The apartments are comfortable and well equipped for all your holiday needs. There is lots to see and do in the area, with many small towns and coastal villages to explore, but you will need a car. Many days were spent just relaxing outdoors with a glass of wine and enjoying the magnificent views. We were there in early October, so it was too cool for a swim, but I am sure the pool is quite refreshing in the warmer months. Your hosts, Bob and Ian, know the area well and will provide excellent recommendations for restaurants and places to shop. A highlight of our visit was their weekly pizza night, when you get together with the other guests to enjoy some wine and conversation as well as homemade pizzas from their...
Read moreWe have stayed at Casal de Fichi more than once, and it is a joy to return. Our hosts, Ian & Bob, live on the property and are super helpful with activites, places to visit, restuarant recommendations and more. The famhouse and setting of Casal Dei Fichi are stunning - perched on a hillside with panoramic views across the valley of beautiful Le Marche hills and picturesque villages. The units are comfortable and well appointed and are a home away from home and views abound from the patio area and the units themselves, plus from the fabulous swiming pool area. Ian & Bob host a "Pizza Party" for guests one evening and it's so much fun to make and bake your own pizza in their pizza oven from their copius spread of provisions. A week at Casal dei Fichi is nothing...
