We decided to book 2nights at Villa Aurea, since the location is a short drive away from Pozzallo port.We booked it because I saw good reviews re Owner Mr.Caruso and His kindness.Sadly enough we weren't so lucky to meet him.We did meet the lady of the house,I assume Mrs.Carusa, which was sweet and welcoming. There was the house-keeper which was just as sweet, opposite to the receptionist which was with no manners at all.She wanted to charge us more money than the agreed price for our stay,we gave her the money she asked for, since she stated that there was a misunderstanding, and that her english wasn't so good..We paid €76.95 extra than the agreed total price. When we asked to talk to Mr.Caruso, the same receptionist told us that He was away.We got to know that all emails which we have sent to Mr.Caruso prior our booking and visit, were not being answered by him,but simply answered by this lady in his name.Very Unprofessional.||The same receptionist wanted to charge us ||as well €60 more to keep the luggages there for an extra 6hrs,when during our stay lt seemed like there were no other tourists than us.||Thankfully we left our luggages in the corridor, and Mrs Caruso was kind enough to not charge us anything extra.||||Villa Aurea is well located close to Pozzallo port, has a lovely pool, but a basic breakfast which consisted of Cornetto,Nutella, cereal, coffee and juice.||Rooms are big,yet furniture was very old worn out furniture dating back to the 80's.||Rooms were clean, and view is beautiful.||||I find that this Hotel was too expensive for what it offers. All other 4 hotels we've been to were cheaper in price, yet with excellent service and beautiful rooms, and lovely...
Read moreA small, comfortable B&B which is well located for trips around the South East of Sicily. The owners are welcoming but tactfully discrete - we were given a bowl of freshly picked fruit as we sat by the pool. The room we stayed in was spacious with a pleasant view over open countryside and was kept clean by conscientious staff during our four night stop. The walls are a little thin, so make sure your next door neighbour does not snore.... The swimming pool is attractive and is a pleasant area in which to relax. Make sure you go to the beach - within moderate walking distance - it has miles and miles of beautiful sand immaculately cared for and groomed every day; perfect for bathing and long walks. At the time we stayed (second week in June) there were remarkably few other people on the beach. Plan on travelling a bit to eat out in the evenings. Very good value and...
Read moreWe chose Villa Aurea due to it's proximity to Pozzallo ferry port. We arrived from Valletta, Malta via ferry and received a very warm welcome form both the owner Signor Caruso and his staff, who couldn't have been more helpful our entire stay. The rooms were basic but very clean and we had a lovely small terrace complete with stone built BBQ - Signor Caruso even provided the wood! Very conveniently placed for visiting the wealth of Baroque towns and villages in the area and further afield, although a car is essential. The property and grounds were designed by Signor Caruso himself, a renowned architect from Pozzallo. The beautiful pool is an added bonus after a hot day's sightseeing. There are many fish restaurants to enjoy, but there are also a couple of supermarkets nearby if you prefer to eat in. All in all a wonderful retreat - we have already re-booked for a...
