Residence Le Dune — Hotel in Ispica

Our family (two adults and three children) stayed at Le Dune Residence for a week in June 2017.

Despite arriving at midnight, we received a warm welcome from the owner. The apartment was equipped with a fridge, freezer, cooker, television, shower, balcony and air conditioners in both bedrooms.

There was a communal washing machine and brick pizza oven.

The children were delighted with the swimming pool and were regular visitors. The shallow end is about 1.20 metres and the deep end is about 2.00 metres. The pool was open from 9am to 1pm.. and from 4pm until late (closed for 'siesta' from 1pm to 4pm).

The flat, sandy beach was 20 metres across the road from our apartment, hidden by large dunes. The sea water was extremely warm, so there was no problem with the cold.

Every apartment had a parking space and access is controlled by an electric gate key. Having a car is critical. You can't survive without a car.

If you wanted a snack, ice cream or a drink, there is a shop about 400 metres away. The nearest small supermarket is 4km away on Via Kennedy in Santa Maria del Focalla (a small village). The closest major towns are Pozzallo at 8km and Ispica at 10km. Le Dune Residence is visited at 9am every morning by a 'bread and cheese' delivery man. Useful for breakfast.

Overall, we were delighted with our apartment, the swimming pool and proximity...

The apartments and the grounds were immaculate. The pool cleaned each morning. The kids absolutely loved the mini diving board. The grounds are gated and secure for car/kids. A bread van came each morning 😃. Just over the road was a pristine yellow squeaky sand beach with clear blue safe water perfect for kiddies. Very large apartment with great balcony. Good location as a base to explore SW Sicily but a bit out of town so we had to drive for meals out in polzallo in the evening. Weekends appeared more lively with the area having lots of lido beach bars with music/ traffic causing some noise but nothing too near the accommodation. Only thing we didn't like about the area (not the accommodation) was the overflowing industrial bins which appeared to be emptied once a week and even then there seemed a lot of litter on roadsides etc in that part of Sicily. A shame because Sicily is so beautiful otherwise. Le Dune residence is located in a beautiful place. Long sandy beach...looks stunning. However, there is side effect as well - strong winds (that's why there are Dunes). The garden looks pretty, well maintained. Hosts are lovely, friendly and positive persons, many thanks to them! The apartment itself is quite ok, but I would say it needs some renovation (maybe it's just our apartment looked like that). All doors were noisy (creaking all the time), bed is uncomfortable (i felt all springs) and noisy. The bathroom contains extremely loud toilet, old plumbing. But when you see the environment and beach and sea you forget about everything.
