We stayed here for 5 nights as a family of four. This is a wonderfully located and truly relaxing resort. We were greeted at the gates (after a very easy transfer from the ferry port) by the wonderful Maria who gave us a superb tour of the resort and was continually helpful, attentive and charming throughout our stay. She is an absolute star here and helped organise and recommend loads of activities including a private boat trip to the neighbouring islands, diving and a hiking tour of the volcnano crater (led by the fantastic Santi - I’d definitely check this one out). The location is stunning with great view of the Faraglioni rocks and the coast of Lipari. At sunset this has to be one of the best views of any sunset in the Mediterranean and I never tired of watching the sun dip beneath the sea with a smear of orange and gold. The cactus gardens and grounds are also beautifully kept and the pool and public area of the hotel are clean and luxurious. The staff with just one exception were really wonderful and we felt welcomed and looked after in the numerous restaurants and bars. Special shout out to Michaela and Lamin for making us feel at home and welcome. Our only bad experience was at breakfast one morning where the staff member was rude, abrupt and just got our order almost entirely wrong and then lied when we asked for it to be fixed. It shows how just one bad staff member can taint a hotel but we let the team know and I hope they deal with it. We had rooms 126 and 127 and they both had fabulous views and were well appointed. Housekeeping were excellent here - super helpful and polite and the rooms were always restocked and immaculately cleaned. The mini bar, espresso coffee and lots of water are included in the room which is a nice touch especially when you consider some of the highish prices around the resort. On that note, we thought the resort offered fair value given the quality and service although €18 for a single glass of white wine is a little steep maybe. They are also multiple restaurants here to choose from and we ate at them all, from both 1 star Michelin restaurants, the restaurant by the pool and the excellent pizza restaurant. We had good meals everywhere and I even had a Pizza tasting menu which was a great first for me. I’ve left separate restaurant reviews where appropriate. The gym and spa were also very well equipped and spacious and had good air con throughout. We enjoyed using these facilities a lot. Also make sure you walk down to the sea entry point - it is very well designed, has a lifeguard and the water is clear, cool and beautiful. The resort also runs a regular shuttle service to the town which is helpful and a great way to visit the beaches and local shops and restaurants. A few small points which perhaps need addressing at a 5 star level. Room 127 had an almost unworkably small bathroom where the door closed onto the toilet and it was a squeeze for two people to use. This was a feature of the 2 level room design and was offset by the amazing room itself and huge balcony. The price for drinks in most places was at the top end but then the service and quality was excellent. There were always good sunbeds (lovely double ones) by the pool but we were occasionally denied more than 2 towels despite there being 4 of us which confused me. And maybe breakfast could do with a few more options but that is being quite picky but the choice is a little below other 5 star hotels we have stayed at. Overall we had a fabulous time at the resort and would definitely...
Read moreSorry dear readers!! I got cut off when we hit the ferry back to Messina!! Let’s finish this up Right!!!
We came here to celebrate my 50th. This resort was highly recommend by a few of my husband’s coworkers. There are two different Ferry boats to choose from to get here. We took the “slow” ferry on the way - which take about an hour and 50 mins. The “fast” boat takes about 30 mins. Upon arrival we were greeted immediately by our Services Coordinator Maria, who picked us up by shuttle. The SWEETEST woman Ever!! Right away we loved her! Our drive from port to resort took less than 5 minutes but Maria made sure to give us some history and points of interest about the island. Therasia Resort is located on the island of Vulcan; one of the 7 Aeolian islands. This place is truly stunning. Our visit happened to be on the first day of their Opening Season. Which I honestly recommend as it’s not too busy, everyone is still pretty laid back and not yet feeling run all over by Rowdy summer guests. Service here is Top Notch. They truly make your experience personally. They get to know your name, they take great pride in the level of service they bring to the table. We really loved the Bar manager Lilow. He is new to the property and has many great ideas to jazz things up in his area. The first day we participated in a Cocktail Class; where Lilow and his awesome staff crafted SIGNATURE cocktails for all of the guests in attendance. We will also be given the recipes and pictures of our cocktails so that we can take them wherever we go and request it from any other bar!! FREAKING FANTASTIC 🥰🥰🥰 We also go to visit the island of Lipari and explore a bit AND got to participate in a cooking class at the Awesome family run restaurant Le Macine!!! These people know FOOD!!! We created an Amazing Spaghetti allo Scoglio (on the rocks). Overflowing with Muscles, Baby clams, blood Shrimp, tiny coastal shrimp, swordfish and Octopus and mixed into a scratch made tomato sauce and HOUSE made spaghetti- all with SUPER FRESH AND LOCAL ingredients from right there in the islands. A-MAZING!!! But that’s another review altogether !!! back to the resort!! Upon our return we went exploring a bit and discovered there are FOUR on site restaurants!! The Arcipelago is their in house restaurant. Here is where Most of the dining takes place; where Breakfast is served and where they make the BEST pizza!!! We also had an assortment of the FRESHEST grilled seafood!! Excellente!! The Cappero is a Gastronomic EXPERIENCE. You choose 5 or 7 courses and though each plate is tiny I GUARANTEE you will be STUFFED ANF SATISFIED by the end. And then they try and offer THREE different desserts. I’m telling you we didn’t make it past dessert #2 😝😅 We didn’t get a chance to experience the other two restaurants: Tenerumi (for a TOTALLY Vegetarian Restaurant Experience) and Grusoni (Where it’s all about the poolside food experience) but we will def ck those out next time!! Oh! And we also booked a WONDERFUL couples massage!! Highly recommended for the ultimate relaxation indulgence!!! We had SUCH an amazing weekend; four days is NOT enough time to fully explore every aspect of this gorgeous resort. The staff treat each guest like Kings and Queens, every evening there is A beautiful young lady who sings her heart out. There are MANY MANY staff members I would love to thank by name (Sr Pierpaolo and Sr Vittorio you ROCK!!!) but didn’t get a chance to get them all!! We will def be back!! Thanks so much y’all. TRULY a...
Read moreTherasia Sea Resort & SPA is the best of both worlds. It is both a place and a feeling! |No matter how well traveled you are, here the place will cast its spell upon you. It is the first time in my life (although having been to numerous dreamy destinations) that I could stay for hours and hours just watching the view and feeling like I could not get enough of it. |There are some things that drew my attention while staying in this property:||1. The youthful staff. It was great to see all those young people highly committing to meet everyone’s needs. Always with a smile and willing to help you throughout the day. Marta and Maria really excelled in what they did (the rest of the staff were great too). ||2. We were upgraded to a Premier Room which was such a nice gesture on the hotel’s behalf given the fact that they already knew we were on our honeymoon. Being thoughtful about extra details made us feel the spirit they put into what they do. Our terrace/ veranda was huge and we got to have view of the sea and the lush gardens. We would stay there for hours during the evening until midnight, just enjoying the beauty of the surroundings. ||3. The hotel feels private yet not isolated and we had a regenerative and meditative experience provided by the fact that NOT in a single moment did we feel that the staff was pushy or uncomfortable. It nourished us with peace and quiet. Also, even though there may be 120 people around, given the fact that hotel’s facilities are distributed and well-appointed everywhere, you would feel like you own the place since never will you encounter a crowded space.||4. The breakfast is so good. Choices for everyone and an eye on the healthy choices for the more diet and wellness-oriented ones. I found Lamil very knowledgeable about the ingredients of different plates. He was so welcoming and nice that we could not imagine having breakfast without having him around. Noemi as well was really professional. Some staff members also spoke German besides English and that is good to know for German travelers (despite me not being German). ||5. The shuttle bus to the port offered added commodity to those unwilling to go on foot for 2 km and reach the port by themselves. You only have to book in advance. Ciro, one of the drivers was always welcoming us with a genuine and authentic heart and smile. He really stood out with the extra care he provided for our luggage during our departure.||6. There are 4 pools, 2 of which with salty (sea) water. You can access the sea as well through stairway platforms. Just keep in mind that you have to climb some stairs to get to the upper-level pools, or climb down to the sea.||The overall experience was really good. It was great to see the effort that almost everyone put into keeping up with the seasonal workload. We could see the gardeners at 6:00 am taking care of each flower and the rest of the staff serving as if they just had the shift starting....
