Charming Delightful Enchanting. Our second trip to Italy was split into 10 days in Tuscany followed by 4 days in Umbria. After many days of Tuscan crowds, we were looking forward to exploring a slower life in rural Umbria. Glowing reviews led us to Dopo il Settimo Cielo (“After the Seventh Heaven”) B&B. We were graciously greeted by the property’s charming host, Francesca and her wonderful dogs Nanook and Boo, and the sweetest horse you will ever meet, Uli (Oo-lee). The farm is perfectly placed on a hilltop overlooking the stunning town of Civita di Bagnoregio and there are breathtaking views in every direction. Do take time to soak in those views in the various hammocks, arbors, and lounge chairs nestled under the shade of various giant oaks. Inside Francesca’s delightful home, you’ll feel as if you grew up there surrounded by all the family mementos and photos. The breakfasts were country chic, locally supplied and served at her amazing dining room table in front of a giant fireplace. We had planned more day trips, but we spent most of our time at Dopo il Settimo Cielo instead. It’s a destination in itself that you don’t want to miss. You’ll question why anyone would pick a hotel over an enchanting experience like this. ||||We loved cuddling with Boo, Nanook, and Uli (who knew a horse could cuddle?). Francesca is very respectful of her guests privacy but we wanted to spend more time talking with her. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting over coffee with Francesca and her charismatic best friend Gwen and enjoyed a lunch time nosh of fresh local mozzarella delivered by another good friend who stopped by. If you’ve watched TV or movies, dreaming of country Italian life, you must stay here. This is the real thing. All the supporting elements were also fantastic: great water pressure in the showers, speedy wifi, and very good cellular coverage on TIM. Francesca was happy to make dinner suggestions and even reservations for us (which was very helpful when you don’t speak Italian). One evening on our own, we couldn’t seem to find an open restaurant. A quick call to Francesca netted us a reservation at a romantic, quaint little restaurant that welcomed us warmly. As we drove away towards the airport, and our flight home, we talked endlessly about how our second trip to Italy wouldn’t have been the same without our experience at Dopo il Settimo Cielo. Thank you Francesca for the wonderful memories. It truly...
Read moreWe rented Francesca's house at the beginnning of july for about two|weeks. We were with 8 people, including several 'children' between the age of 19 and 24. We, but also our children, were very impressed with the house, the environment and its beautiful location, but above all the atmosphere and ambiance of it all. Not to forget that Francesca was|always there to assist us and was very friendly in general, her English|is also very good. In addition, the house has just about anything that|you're looking for in terms of equipment & utensils etc. - you name it! As such, it was about everything that we had hoped for and beyond that even. We actually expected the children to head out every day, but they spent quite a few days at the house simply because it was nice to 'stay at home', relaxing at the pool and in the evenings enjoying a great|dinner due to the lovely outdoor area and a nicely set table. In and|around the house there are various areas to relax, ranging from the|swimming pool to various hammocks and a set of reclining chairs that offer an amazing view. The pool is not that large, but it suited perfectly fine. The house allows for up to about 10 persons and it even wasn't a problem to have a few friends come over for several nights. ||Conclusion? A definite...
