Residence Sporting — Hotel in Malcesine

Lovely quiet location directly on the lake, but not that close to malcesine. Apartment was very clean and spacious and had everything you needed. Free wi-fi worked well. The safe in the room didn't work,which was unfortunate. They said it needed a new battery and would need to be sent away. So we had no safe during our stay.||||We had a room at the back with a side door leading to our own private garden with deck-chairs and a table and chairs overlooking the lake. This was lovely,the only down side of this is that it was next to a busy road. You couldn't see the road but you could hear it through the fence/hedge. I was concerned that the road noise might bother us at night, but you couldn't hear it inside the apartment and the road was quieter at night.||||We were really glad of the use of free bikes and used them to cycle into Malcesline. This was a beautiful cycle ride about 10-15 mins along the path right by the lake away from the busy road. It's a level path most of the way,but there is one steep hill you have to go over. It was very hot whist we were there and I'm not sure I would have enjoyed the walk as much as I enjoyed the bike ride. We also cycled to cassone which was a lovely bike ride.||||There is a good supermarket about 5-10 min walk away. The restaurant next door is very popular for weddings and is rated high on trip advisor. We ate there and the food was very nice.||||This is a lovely location to relax, sitting by the pool looking out over the lake is beautiful. We booked a room for the family holiday running up to our wedding in Malcesine and we were not disappointed. We had a late flight in so even though check-in had closed Yolo cycled back into work to show us our room personally. We were given Room 34 (we are told the largest in the hotel), it had a mezzanine level with 4 single beds and a separate double bedroom, both rooms had access to the huge balcony which had stunning views over the lake. Below the mezzanine level was a double sofa bed, dining table and basic kitchen equipment. Our 7 and 8 year old were fine but worth noting that the steps up the single beds was extremely steep so probably not suitable for younger children but I'm told by the kids the sofa bed was comfy. Because of the apartment style rooms you are left alone for the duration of your stay which was perfect for us meaning no-one is trying to get into your room when you're wanting a lazy morning. The kitchen is pretty basic with not much prep space but perfect for breakfasts and lunches. There is a Jolly Discount shop a short walk away to stock up the fridge. The pool has amazing views over the lake and because of how close it is to the lake most of the time we had it to ourselves. 23 of us (6 families) stayed in the Sporting Residence for a week together in order to celebrate our Wedding. Families arrived from Uk, New Zealand and Australia and the facilities, swimming pool (including inflatables for kids) and bbq area were perfect to entertain us all together. Absolutely perfect location ( being right upon the lake with Jetty and area to wade straight into lake) and accommodation, albeit simple, was roomy and comfy for all of us. |There is a tourist bus stop right outside which can take you straight into Malcesine Centre. However, we mainly used the free bikes provided or walked along the lakeside ( approx 30 min walk) and the views were simply spectacular so never got bored. |Patrick, our lovely, friendly host, went out of his way to accommodate us with any extra requirements we might have and cannot speak highly enough about him. He absolutely ensured our stay was perfect, and it was! Thank you again Patrick. |As the hotel only has 12 or so rooms, it felt more intimate and personal than bigger hotels and we more or less took over the place whilst we were there! |As the bride to be, the beautiful location proved fantastic for pre wedding day photos and our reception ( La Voglia restaurant) was situated next door, so easy for everyone to get back to hotel at night! |We look forward to returning to celebrate our wedding...
