What we thought would be a tranquil romantic stay in the vineyards of Montefalco for 7 nights turned out to be much much less than that. It was an abrupt, cold greeting, with a hurried introduction and ‘your documents’ A few minutes later she gave us the keys, pointed to the villa and left- no walking us through the apartment we would stay at for 7 nights, no information about the lovely property and grounds, where to throw out garbage or do we get maid service or fresh towels, never a good morning or even check in to see how we were doing. By the time we got toilet paper after writing them on WhatsApp since though on property, they never came by, we had purchased our own.
The red flag ofcourse we should have paid attention to was after booking/ paying for this lovely place, five days later we are advised the pool, which is highlighted first in their write up is ‘suddenly’ closed for emergency repair. We were given an option for a refund though by this close time, we had already cancelled another place thinking FonteSala would be so nice. Assuring us the major work was done so there will be no noise, we opted to try it. During our week, the pool was painted, filled and the last day the loungers placed around the pool after mowing and trimming during our stay and looked ready to open the day we checked out. What a shame.
It was noise every day whether the yard maintenance that took up most of Friday afternoon and Saturday morning starting at 8:00am, the bachelorette party that stayed up until midnight loudly laughing and talking keeping us awake and even their loud music Sunday morning quite early as they set up their own table in the middle of the yard to eat.
The grounds are nice, the villa is nice but with the lack of warmth, hospitality, and charm, there are many other places to stay in Montefalco.
This is one of the few places that allows bachelorette party’s and our frame of reference for this is full time global traveling, 365 days a year.
The funny thing is before checking in, we stopped at a winery for a tasting and when asked where we were staying, the owner said ‘oh, it’s nice from the outside’.
Suffice it to say your experience will depend on how considerate the other guests feel like being as the staff on sight won’t be there to intervene the inconsiderate partying of other guests and also what maintenance yard work is going on. What could have been done in a few hours took two days of noise. FonteSala is certainly...
Read moreIt is seldom in life when you get that lucky. For us, this unique place, the attentive host, the charm of Umbria created an unforgettable event that far exceeded our expectations… Walking into a picture, pinching yourself, and yet remanning in its frame was a magical experience for us and all of our guests which lasted for three whole days. We got married in this place and had a fabulous wedding which included many different variables that all had to work right- and boy, they did.
All of our providers were local, chosen by us with the help of Lorenzo, our host. Each one was incredibly professional and a joy to work with! Above all we would have to mention here Lorenzo himself, who’s excellence will be hard to capture in few words but to draw out just a few for the sake of this review we would mention him being very responsive, patient as a parent, easy to talk to, eye level person, always ensuring our needs were met with sensitivity and understanding, well-organized and clear in his communication.
The venue itself and the view that surrounds it are straight out of a fairytale. We examined many pictures carefully for six months before arriving, but nothing could prepare us for stepping inside. Our guests were just as blown away as we were, which validated our own experience. We had different events over a long weekend, and during one of them, we went sightseeing in a nearby town. In hindsight, we probably should have skipped it and spent the time relaxing by the pool at this incredible place.
The nearby town of Montefalco boasts a few great restaurants, its own unique wine, a grocery store, incredible alleys, and stunning views. We had our wedding day photoshoot in this town, driving a rented convertible VW Beetle. The people on the street were so nice and welcoming, adding to the charm of our...
Read moreAgriturismo Fonte Sala is a lovely place, situated between the olivetrees and wineyards. Very rural but also close to a lot of interesting places to visit as Montefalco, Spello, Assisi, Perugia. ||||The cottage 'la Ginestra' is perfect for a couple with max. two kids as there are two separate bedrooms. The cottage was bigger than we expected and we found all we need, even a small breakfast for the first morning! The terrace is great and although there are four other apartments, you still have your privacy. Kids can easily play outside and safe as well as the swimmingpool is a bit away from the apartments and with a fence. ||||Enough chairs at the swimmingpool for all families staying at the agriturismo and there is a washingmachine as well which you can use for free. There is internet but almost never working. But you don't need internet as the place is great to relax and visit nice villages and do a wine and oiltasting tour! ||||We really recommend this place and will definately...
