Location and pool was absolutely stunning, the rooms are a bit dated but with a bit of attention it would be great, for example the temporary and slightly hazardous tiles outside one of the rooms.|| We were told on arrival (not in advance) that the card machine was not working, and although the deposit was accepted by bank transfer, the owner insisted on the payment being cash. We are still unsure why bank transfer was not allowed. Taking cash at the Italian bank incurred us penalty costs and multiple trips as there was limits on the amount of money we could take out at a time. When we took out as much as we could, and explained that we would have to do the rest by bank transfer, the owner said the card machine was now fixed. This caused us stress as all the bank trips and penalty charges could have been avoided. We got no apology or compensation for the charges incurred.||Guest should know that the only food allowed at the communal dining tables is the food provided by the owner (€40 per person). We were sat at the table with bread and cheeses, and were told it was disrespectful to the other guests, although they were all out for the day at the time and we were tidy. We understand that this is also the owners home, however perhaps it was a language barrier, but the way this was addressed was very upsetting for us.||I read on a previous review about a problem with wasps, this was still a problem during our visit.||The pool was outstanding, and the owner was completely right in describing it as being a peaceful and quiet place to relax with a good book.||Overall, although there were moments we felt stressed and uncomfortable, however you can tell the owner has put a lot of care and attention into...
Read moreThe good points first: Relais Il Margarito is a very pretty place in delightful countryside. The house is surrounded by beautiful tended gardens, with lots of peaceful areas to sit and take in the view and a really lovely swimming pool. Our room, La Rosa Imperial, was also very pretty, with good air-conditioning, but the room is very small for a place in the countryside and for the price you are paying. Breakfast was offered in a charming breakfast room, but not the quality I have found elsewhere. My main problem with my stay was the interaction with the owner. I booked directly through the website and had a protracted email exchange and a deposit paid by PayPal. When we arrived at the property the owner said she was not expecting us and had no memory of the reservation. When I shared the emails we had exchanged, there was no apology, just the explanation that the owner had many visitors and could not be expected to remember our booking. We were told we could stay but would need to vacant the room by 10am the next day. I was also asked to pay the balance by cash and to cover the costs of taking the deposit by PayPal! Lastly when I asked for advice on where to park in Macerata, I was just told it would be very difficult. Really...
Read moreRelais il Margarito - Set in the Le Marche countryside, Beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Well tended gardens. ||Large pool with, plenty of shade and seating available. 1 day the pool was 'out of action' due to the water turning green as a recent storm had disrupted the chemical balance, it was resolved promptly.||We were initially warmly welcomed and shown around the property. our accommodation was clean and pleasant. My daughter was in La Rosa which was ideal for 1 person although the patio and seating area was very precarious due to the tiling not being secure.||The holiday for me was overshadowed by the request on arrival to pay the balance of the holiday in cash. The deposit was by bank transfer. I offered to do a bank transfer or credit card but the credit card machine was not initially working. And was told she preferred cash. This then involved 4 days withdrawing cash out and caused further cost to me in bank charges. Hence I found this experience quite stressful...
