Rifugio Altino — Hotel in Montemonaco

Pros:

-quiet -so pretty and natural -very convenient and tidy rooms. Some of the rooms are fantastic. Others are more basic but all very practical and pretty. -wifi available -local dinner style, roasted barbecue and roasted vegetables with real olive oil. Great food and local wine. -Amazing view -plenty of animals around and flowers -many trekking spots nearby -very kind staff

Negative aspects:

-not a negative aspect really, but it's a bit far.

Conclusion:

Go. Convenient and beautiful. Just a stay if your stopping and going. Not a place...

The apartments are built into the original stone houses and are cleverly designed to maximise the space. (Our children slept on the mezzanine level above us!) They are cosy and basic but perfect for a base and eating in if you choose to. Arrive prepared! Altino is tiny and is literally just the Rifugio so there are no local shops. The Rifugio is family run and we couldn't have felt more welcome. Everyone made a huge fuss of our girls and were always willing to help whether it be which walk to go on or helping us...

Altro che 5 stelle. Gliene darei 10. Abbiamo solo mangiato al rifugio e quindi non sono in grado di giudicare le stanza. Non solo abbiamo stra-mangiato viste le porzioni ma era tutto stra-fantastico. Pasta fatta a mano, salumi che parlavano per quanto erano buoni, ricotta con quel velo di miele e buccia di arancia grattata sopra che era una delizia. Per non parlare del capriolo e del cinghiale! Tutto stra-fantastico. Complimenti ai gestori che sono riusciti a mantenere un'atmosfera più che cordiale in quello che è, fondamentalmente, un container (vittime del terremoto, ahiloro), ma riadattato così bene da questa famiglia stra-accogliente che sembra di stare a casa. Sinceramente non capisco chi abbia potuto dare meno di 4 stelle al ristorante. Secondo me non sa cosa significa mangiare bene e non ha capito che è proprio in questi ristoranti a gestione familiare con una cuoca (Annarita) cresciuta tra i fornelli e portatrice di una tradizione culinaria che potrebbe scomparire, che si mangia stra-bene. Anche l'insalata era ottima (croccante e condita con un olio che cantava). Bravi, bravi e bravi ancora. Ritorneremo...
