The Good, the BAD, and the overall impression of this B & B. |We arrived very late in the evening after a long day of travel. There was noone at reception. A note was left for us to find our rooms. That was a feat in itself, as we were all on the second floor carring luggage upstairs. No elevators, and our "suites" were accessed from an outside staircase.||The "suite had a living room with dated sparse furnishings, and a bedroom/bathroom. I was expecting better furnishings. It was not welcoming, cold and drabby. The pillows are hard, and the bed was VERY uncomfortable. Bare neccessities were provided with a small fridge. Bathroom shower is "ok", no place to put your bottles or soap. Fan is loud and automaticall comes on when you turn the light on. |I didn't feel as though I was staying in a beautiful place. However, the surroundings and grounds are breathtaking. ||Breakfast was subpar. Normal european buffet, cold cuts and pastries and fruit. Same every morning. Fruit was basic. Canned peaches, pineapple, and dates. Scrambled eggs, and what looked like cut up hotdogs was our choice for hot food every morning for our 4 day stay. If you are gluten free, they will provide you with pre-packaged bread/pastry if you ask.||The staff are unfriendly. The owners especially. ||Fair warning. There are no restaurants nearby so if you wish to reserve lunch/dinner you must do it a day in advance at the hotel. You cannot bring food back and eat on their outside patio. We were told we couldn't when we tried to sit down with our lunch. We were told to walk into another area where we could eat. Not a big deal, this is really about how it was said to us.||There are no microwaves in rooms, and don't expect them to heat anything up for you. When I asked, I was told; "we don't reheat food brought from outside"....in broken english. Again, it was how it was said. Owners wife is abrupt, and not pleasant to talk to. ||Again, the grounds are beautiful. Would I stay...
Read moreHighly, highly recommend! We stayed here for two nights in June 2025 and had the most beautiful stay. The room was exactly as described and although very historic, the room was very clean with comfortable bedding and pillows. ||The property is positively beautiful, and everything you could dream of for a tuscan hillside stay. The staff were very accomodating and friendly and we had no issues communicating (we are Australian with very limited Italian).||We are both gluten free and pescatarian and enjoyed a beautiful dinner at the restaurant (including entree, gluten free pasta, lovely fish secondi, and dessert). The restaurant staff told us all of the options for gluten free and we felt very welcomed. For breakfast, they provided us with packaged gluten free bread and pastries and we could help ourselves to all the other individually served accompaniments (eggs, tomato, cheeses, fruit etc). My partner is celiac but not too sensitive to cross contamination so I cannot speak to this but I can highly recommend this accomodation for facilitating our gluten free needs! ||We would absolutely stay here again and in the future we would plan to stay longer so that we can enjoy some whole days just lounging at the pool (instead of exploring nearby towns which is what we did). ||My only suggestion: the accomodation asks that no external food or drink is consumed on the common property (gardens, pool etc) which I can understand for promoting eating at the restaurant but as someone with a limited diet and given how many wineries are in the region, it would have been nice to bring some of our own food or wine around the pool or garden. A suggested compromise could be for the accommodation to offer a “picnic service charge” charging a small service fee / corkage fee per person for consuming external food on the grounds, because we would have happily paid a little extra to drink a bottle of our own wine or picnic food in the common garden. ||Very...
Read moreAmazing views, the pool was very nice and relaxing after a hot day, the pool seemed like it didn’t get cleaned much as there was dead/alive bugs and insects in the pool. The room was very big and not very well lit, the mini fridge could have been nicer, the air conditioning was quite loud, the beds were very uncomfortable as you had 1 small perfectly sized pillow and one big chunky pillow to go on top, as someone who sleeps with two pillows this wasn’t very ideal, along with the bedroom the bathroom was a bit of a let down due to the shower being dirty inside . The restaurant was quite overpriced but the it was worth it as the food was very tasty. They could’ve had better facilities and staff as it seemed that one of the staff of the hotel seemed to be working most jobs in the hotel, the reception wasn’t manned all day as it seemed there wasn’t a receptionist most of the time. The breakfast was nice although they could’ve of had more items and pastries, the croissants and other few things weren’t covered so there was lots of flies on them, the croissants seemed a bit stale and the egg tasted a bit funny. Another thing, they allowed dogs at the restaurant and breakfast area, which wasn’t very pleasant as some dogs are dirty and shouldn’t be allowed near such area. Would recommend if you’re here for the culture and the amazing views of the Tuscan countryside, but wouldn’t suggest staying here for more than 3 days as the lack of things...
