The hotel building was very nice, newly reconstructed rooms with pretty balconies, which were shared with other customers. The cleaning service was exceptional, I have never seen such clean floor, and the hotel was right on the sandy beach! Well, the price (200 € per night for 2) was not adequate beacause of these facts: It is a 3 star hotel with no pool BUT you have this nice (although a bit dirty) sandy beach with hotel sunbeds and umbrellas. Had we known the fact, that you have to pay 30 € (40 € if you choose the first row) for umbrella and 2 sunbeds as a hotel customer, we would have booked a much cheaper option. The price of the sunbeds is not what made angry, but the fact that the price is exactly the same if you decide to book umbrella with sunbeds from another provider (and there are many paid umbrellas around Gianella) whether you are hotel host or not. Prices for parking were normal, luckily. We also decided to try the famous dinner at this hotel. It was really delicious and the dishes were not micro, but you need to try at least two courses to get full. The prices for a la carte were also fair. Now let's move to the breakfast - the hotel staff was really kind and we loved the cappucino, but over all there were not many options to choose from (again - nothing bad, but given the price you pay, it was below average). The last day we tried a ham, that was already stale and smelt, which...
Read moreMy partner and I explored Tuscany moving around the the Hotel Villa Ambra provided a cheap, yet extremely comfortable hotel for a nights stay. ||||The room was a really good size, as was the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful, it is what it is, a hotel with bar/cafe/newsagents attached to it. In season there may be a restaurant as well, but we don't know as we were out of season. ||||The only negative is that the road this hotel is on seems to have only 2 restaurants, so you will have to drive to find somewhere to eat. If you do, I recommend driving to Porto Santo Stefano, were the thriving port has a range of options and is also a lovely place to spend an evening. It is not possible to walk to the nearest towns as there is no space on the main roads for pavement or safe pedestrian walking, we attempted it, but aborted our journey as we didn't feel safe. ||||Breakfast was really nice. Parking was easy, either alongside the road or in a dedicated parking area 30m walk away. ||||Being March we didn't really explore the beach, but a visual inspection shows it to be a very nice beach, the hotel is right on it and sea view rooms have a lovely panorama, especially...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights in July. Its a small beachside hotel. The rooms are big and clean but basic, didnt have a mini fridge. The beach just outside the hotel is ok, its better to swim in mornings when sea is calm, in the afternoon it was quite wavy. There isnt much beside the hotel, its on a road that has campsites and thats about it. We had a car thankfully , we visited the Saturnia thermal spas from here, about 40 mins drive. We also went to the nearby nature park and visited Orbetello, and Port Ercole which is lovely. We were going to get a taxi to Orbetello for a few drinks as only 5 km away but when the woman on reception rang for one we were quoted 30 euro !, she was surprised we asked so think its either bus or your own vehicle. There is a snack bar on the beach but this closes early, we used to just get our drinks from the shop out front and take our drinks to the beach which is lovely at night, you can see the lights to Porto Santo Stefano. 2 nights would be enough for this hotel. The breakfast is just...
