First of all, the wifi wasn't working. This was a known problem, but it wasn't fixed during our stay. It was not possible to call the reception via the room telephone, as their switchboard was no longer working. The light at the entrance to the room that illuminates the clothes storage area was not working. The condition of the bathroom walls could do with a refresh. I booked a junior suite and the coffee in the room was two soluble coffees, one normal and one decaffeinated, which they said was normal... not even two normal coffees in a junior suite... As I wanted to order real coffee, not soluble and not decaffeinated either, I tried to call reception. The phone didn't work. I went down to reception and asked if they could bring us an americano and a latte in the room. I was told that the coffee was available and the latte was not, and that I would have to go and get it myself in the breakfast room, which I did. Finally, my wife forgot a small Dior make-up palette in the bathroom, which we noticed when we got home. I contacted the hotel and they told me that after asking the chambermaid she couldn't find anything, whereas my wife remembers exactly where she left it in the bathroom. In Parma there are other 4-star hotels in the same price range which certainly deserve their 4 stars, not this one. I'm very, very disappointed with this hotel and wouldn't...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at this hotel on a recent visit to Parma. Here are the three reasons you should not stay here. First, the name of the hotel implies it's "in the city." But that not true, the hotel is remote, near the airport and requires either driving or taking a taxi to visit the city itself. Second, while the outside of the hotel and the common areas are quite nice, unique and modern the rooms themselves are very basic and rather small. Third and most important the shower itself is dangerous and unsafe and I do not believe would meet US safety standards. You see the shower has a tile half step up area and then the shower area itself which you end up stepping slightly down into to take your shower. The shower pan itself is quite slippery and when entering the shower I slipped and fell backward hitting my head and and cutting my elbow. As the day day went on my elbow became swollen to about the size of a golf ball so I ended up icing it for much of that afternoon and evening. It's a few days later and my elbow is still...
