Just back from our daughter’s wedding in Borgo Colognola. A wonderful experience all the way through from our afternoon arrival to our eventual departure four days later. Borgo is a cluster of atmospheric medieval buildings dating from before 1500, located on a hilltop with splendid views, and renovated within the last ten years into an atmospheric wedding location with luxurious apartments. For those who cannot be accommodated at Borgo, there is plenty of back up accommodation ten or fifteen minutes away. One small warning is that there are a good many stairs to be negotiated.||The apartments are nominally self catering, but Borgo’s wonderful and accommodating hostess Francesca has arrangements with caterers and will lay on sumptuous catering as she did for us. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble, and her friendly and attentive, but unobtrusive, staff ensured that everything went like clockwork. We had a total of four main meals ranging from barbecues to formal dinners, each one better than the one before. ||On behalf of everyone who attended, I can only say Bravo Francesca ! Planning a wedding from two thousand kilometres away poses problems, but she made advance planning for the event easy, and produced an unforgettable end experience. As my daughter said, she could organise the Olympic Games without turning a hair. We have no hesitation in awarding Borgo 10 out of 10 and recommending it unreservedly to anyone looking for an idyllic...
Read moreI really dont know how I should start this review as this place is so special to us that it is really hard to explain how amazing Borgo Colognola is!||We stayed 3 days with family and friends for our Wedding and it literally exceeds our dreams! All of our guests were super happy with the location and really enjoyed the days at the Borgo. When you see pictures of the Borgo you can already see that this is a beautiful location but it never can keep up with the real look and the whole atmosphere of this place! It is so special you really have to see it in real life.||||Obviously there are a lot of beautiful locations in Umbria & Tuscany but the main reason I really recommend this place, is the owner Francesca!||We decided not to hire a wedding planner as I wanted to plan this special day myself. From the very first moment Francesca has basically become our wedding planner and she did EVERYTHING to help us create our magical day! ||During our stay and wedding day she has been there to organize, supervise so everything went smoothly. ||||Everyone told us that we should not expect our wedding to be perfect there will always be something that goes wrong but I can tell you nothing went wrong at our wedding and the reason for that is Francesca :) ! ||||I could talk hours about the Borgo but as said you really have to visit it yourself to get the full atmosphere of this wonderful romantic...
Read moreThe property is an old cloister that has been restored with great taste and eye for detail. We stayed in an apartment on the ground floor. The kitchen was nicely equipped; A nice big fridge and even a dishwasher. The bed quality is good and everything was very clean. Our apartment is ideal when traveling with a family, since you would go through 1 bedroom to get into the main bedroom. So if traveling with 2 couples, you might prefer to book another type of apartment at the Borgo. The pool area and the garden are fantastic. When you drive up there for the first time, I would recommend doing this when it is still light outside. The road towards the property is a bit challenging when you are not used to it. Part of it has not been asphalted yet, it is rather narrow and it is not lit when dark. But this is the small price you pay to be away from the hustle and bustle. For internet or phone addicts, bear in mind that Wi-Fi and cell phone connection might not be working in every room. This is because it is such an ancient building with massive walls. We did not mind it all! The hosts are passionate about their property and could not have...
