Our stay at Agriturismo La Volpe e L'Uva for four nights and the three cooking classes we did with our hostess Rafaella was the highlight of our two week trip to Italy!||We used two apartments that were very comfortable and well furnished. The breakfast foods provided for us to prepare at our leisure in the morning were just right. The classes began at 10 am and were so well done! Rafaella was well prepared and very organized, and had planned three delicious and varied menus for us. Her techniques and teaching methods were easy to follow and involved everyone. She is so great at what she does! She has a marvelous assistant as well. She can easily teach up to 8 students. Using all fresh ingredients, we made elegant and traditional home cooked meals including a starter, a pasta dish ( with fresh pasta or gnocchi from scratch), a meat dish, and a dessert. After preparing the food we sat down at a beautifully set table and enjoyed the Michelin Star quality meal. Everything was amazing!!! We also enjoyed the delicious wine and olive oil from the farm. We feel like we learned enough to come home and try the recipes with success. ||In the afternoons we toured Ovieto, Assisi, and Gubbio. Rafaella had booked a driver with a mini van for the remainder of each day, and a local English speaking guide for the first two days. This made for a stress free afternoon of enjoying the local sites. ||We would all definitely recommend both the Agriturismo and the cooking school. If you don't have three days, then inquire about doing just one or two...
Read moreMy husband and I spent six days in mid-June, 2018 at La Volpe e l'Uva.||This family owned agriturismo is a hotel and wonderful cooking school.||We thoroughly enjoyed every day and recommend Raffaella highly as a hostess and as a cooking teacher.||For 3 hours each day we chopped, cut, kneaded and prepared a 4 course Italian/Umbrian meal/ consisting of an appetizer, a meat/chicken dish, a pasta and dessert, all made, from scratch by the members of the class from recipes and with instructions from Raffaella. It was wonderful and delicious.||We prep and cooked in her home and in her kitchen.||After we completed our tasks, we went out into the garden where a lovely table was set for the members of the class. Also on the table were several bottles of homemade red wine made by Raeffela's mother in law. The food we made was served course by course and the wine was a wonderful accompaniment. All in all as perfect lunch.||We sat with our classmates, whom we had not met prior to the class, and, somehow, the cooking together, eating together and drinking together made us all instant friends from different parts of the world. It was idyllic. ||And..if after the morning, we were too full and happily too lazy to sightsee, there is a lovely pool to cool off and read a book during the afternoon.||The apartments on sight have a small kitchen and refrigerator, stove top, etc. So, if we did not want to go out in the evening, we could make some dinner, drink some more wine, and enjoy this wonderful, Italian farm experience. We...
Read moreThis 'farm' is on the outskirts of Perugia and also within a reasonable distance of popular tourist destinations such as Assisi, Spello, Todi and Orvieto. It is also the home of 'Let's Cook in Umbria', a hands-on cooking experience focused on Umbrian dishes. The accommodation is several apartments of quite good size, comprising combined sitting/dining/kitchen area, with a separate bedroom and bathroom. It's all rather rustic, but comfortable and relaxed. The outlook is to Umbrian hillsides, there is no noise, and there's plenty of space to relax and chill out. There's also a pool but it was a bit early in the season to give it a try. Breakfast provisions provided are quite sufficient but can easily be supplemented if your tastes aren't catered for in the nearby town of San Marco. Furniture is comfortable and sufficient. Kitchen and dining equipment is adequate - it's a bit reminiscent of the family beach or holiday house, where an assortment of mixed vintage items surplus to the needs of friends and family found a useful end to their lives. The bathroom was also quite functional and spacious, but without a shower curtain it's a major achievement not to flood the bathroom floor while showering. Hostess, Raffaella, is delightful - warm, friendly and helpful. We had a very pleasant and...
